Enjoy, Jim!
I know what we are NOT doing today :)

Rick V 03-10-2013 06:15 AM

So does the 44 get gutted today?

pete3799 03-10-2013 06:16 AM

You think your roads are mucked up..........good thing i got my trailer off the hill early yesterday.
By late afternoon the frost went out on most of the town road. I could hold a mud bog.
Froze last night, but it's 40* and sunny .......driveway may get interesting later today.

Nope the old man is pretty sore from yesterday. Lt1 is out, may as well rebuild first. This isn't a yank and drop sloppy kind of transplant.

Yeah I hate the spring freeze/thaw thing. We just have tons of sand and salt laying around here.

Just a question but what are you guys planning for a clutch and trans?

Jferr006 03-10-2013 06:50 AM

Conversion kit comes with clutch, bell housing. Stock tranny should be fine... It's 30 years old so it could probably use a rebuild as well. Check out the kits, Texas Performance Concepts or Renegade.

I drove the fbird yesterday before the gutting....holy s.
I broke it to hubs that I'm buying another 944 before the year is out and he isn't allowed to have any Vested interest in it :)

Rick V 03-10-2013 06:56 AM

He is aware that the entire front chassis has to be removed to do that job and not reinstalled until after the engine is bolted in................right?
fun fun fun

Jferr006 03-10-2013 07:00 AM

That's how he gets his rocks off. Always has. I imagine one day he'll realize he's too old to do tricky complicated crap.

fintstone 03-10-2013 07:07 AM

Too much salt still on the roads to bring out my 911. My Cayenne unceremoniously lost all its coolant yesterday...so I guess I will be taking that apart today to see what broke. I have done little work on it myself...only replacing the battery (under the driver's seat, no less) and a headlight and taillight bulb (none of which were easy...so I don't relish this. All the pluming is well hidden under covers and the MAF.

Janet...maybe you ought to see if a 600HP Cayenne turbo engine will shoehorn into that 944.

Rick V 03-10-2013 07:07 AM

I doubt it. I am 48 and still get off on electrical issues

realllly? Does Beth wanna trade? :D

fintstone 03-10-2013 07:09 AM

I hate to work on cars now. The jobs just keep piling up. One breaks....I just drive another one. I don't even like to wash them like I used to. Maybe things will change after I retire.

When Beth turned fifty I tried to trade her in for two twenty five year olds, that didn't work too well
