Nice little 7k walk to town and back this morning. Eggs Benedict at the midway point. Now time for a little kip ;-)

Those mercs are sex on wheels. Very nice Rick.

Someone is asking me if 944 Turbo calipers will work for a Carrera (24mm thick rotors). Apparently he has the front 944 turbo calipers on the front Carrera rotors but I think the rear 944 turbo rotors might be 20mm and therefore the Carrera pads might need to be shaved if the 944 Turbo rear caliper pistons won't retract the extra 0.08" on each side to clear the thicker rotor.

it is my understanding that after '86, the brakes are the same size front and rear....

The only specs I could find on the parts section here did not state turbo, only 944.

How you feel about Nissan joining? You a Holden or a Ford man?

Burp! Good free pizza.

Tomorrow is autocross day. It is supposed to be perfect weather for it. It should be fun. Gotta remember to put on sun screen.

First thing I did on my Rover was troubleshoot and fix the brakes, no power brake assist. Glad it was just an $8.00 fuse instead of the $1800 pump. Also replaced the alternator. Wasn't too bad it's on top. Had to put 3 in to get a good one that feeds the tach properly.

Today I made patterns for floor mats. Ordered some cocomats and they sent me their patterns to make sure they fit. Sure glad they did, their patterns were off quite a bit. Thanks for the butcher paper Glen, it really helped to make a paper mat from the stock carpet mats, then fit them and trace the changes onto their patterns.

I really like Cocomats. They don't shed or show dirt and grime, and hold quite a bit of liquid spillage. When I had them in my boxster the sun faded them over a summer in the sun while at work and leaving the top down.. I called them to see what I should use to re-dye them and they sent me a new set of mats free.

After I sold my X3 I traded the cocomats for it to my dentist for a root canal. She had just gotten a new X3.

Don't mind, I grew up watching the sport when it was called touring cars and open to anything and everything. The competition is good. I like the look of the E63s too.

Keeping it Aussie (although questionable these days) with the Holdens ;)

Flieger 04-13-2013 08:16 PM

I think you guys are the only market that gets a Ford Falcon. My dad had a '63 Falcon as his first car so I always thought it was cool that the name plate lived on in Oz.

Flieger 04-13-2013 08:18 PM

How's the competition this year? Lots of changes- not the least of which going from a beam axle rear to a transaxle and independent like a 944. Makes sense to use Aussie gears/gearbox though. I would think there would be a couple teams that get the setup right straight away and distance themselves from the pack.

Outback Porsche 04-13-2013 08:53 PM

Pretty close comp between Holden and Ford, the Mercs and Datsuns are yet to figure it out. They're close though.

I think the early Falcons were bastardized direct from the States, after that they continued to develop it out here.
