now I remember.....

tech question on the 911 cis system. Will it automatically adjust for alt or should I expect to have problems with idle when I change from say 500' to 3500'?

Rick V 04-25-2013 03:13 PM

Does the car have all of the original functions to it, including a working 02 sensor? If so you should have no issues. Keep your ears open for predetonation

our forecast looks good for the next week or so.... i'd be willing to bet that we get snow somewhere between mid-May and mid-June.

the 79 was pre O2 it was an air pump model. All of that has been removed. Car runs fine here in Tacoma but like in Bend at 3500 feetI had to adjustthe idle up so it would even run then when I got home I had to lower it.

WOW no one has ever called me normal!!!!

LOL

God I thought I was in for major repair/fix/redo of the air system. I know there is a vac leak some place but its minor and has not become huge problem.

Rick V 04-25-2013 03:53 PM

Vac leaks are always a huge problem on an engine that uses incoming air to adjust the amount of fuel it will feed.
and you are NOT normal

Porsche-poor 04-25-2013 03:55 PM

True I'm not I hang out here with the likes of you and I plan to keep it that way.

I plan to attempt to make it rain here in Washington this weekend. The simple act of rolling up the garage door should do it.

nynor 04-25-2013 04:17 PM

speaking of vacuum leaks, i think i have another one. it isn't the oil cap this time. i don't believe it will involve paper towels. i need to get under the hood and tighten some hose clamps and double check the bolts holding the intake manifold in place.

Took a break from working today to swing by my Jag dealer and tell them what I was looking for (04-05 XK convert, must have Nav) and the sales manager let me play with a very lightly used XKRS coupe they'd just taken in on trade because it scared the hell out of the owner........scared the hell out of me too! 570hp and floating on a cloud ride..........very fun......very out of my price range to pay cash for.....
