Rick no bike required to jump that.....

Rick, I was reluctant before because emotionally, I was so attached to my dad's car. All I could see was the 911. Now hanging around here, I see how everybody likes different models for different reasons. The boxster would be perfect for my reason. We'll see. I will need to save up. I used my Porsche fund to live off if when I was unemployed. Need to build that back up. Unless I win the lottery. Then everybody gets a boxster. ;) |
Bikes are fun but they lead to lots of hurt. Nothing wrong with not riding. I like hiking too, and I don't have the skills to mountain bike on any serious trails so it is a way for me to get deeper into the wilderness areas than a mountain road does. My favorite part of riding is the dowhills, though. I like speed. :)

The engine is in the right place with the Boxster.

I think I'm made that offer too somewhere but you'd have to read back to hold me to it :D
Skateboard, sounds right up his alley good idea!. He lives skateboards, maybe we'll get him one. |
Evening all.
Nice work with the treadly Tweeze. Just about ready to go camping. All that's left is to hitch up the camper. See ya all on Monday. |
I got my first bike when I was 5 or 6. I LOVED my bikes. I had many crashes, skinned knees and wounds. Of course that was in the days long before helmets. No one had even heard of helmets for bicycles. I used to go ride my 25 pound "stingray" with the banana seat and a three speed around the base after school just for fun.
As soon as I was legal to drive a car, the bike was history. |
Ahhhh, Home from work, 65 deg. and sunny....
Brew taste gooood. |
Nice job on the bike Tweeze! I remember my first bike. Little mini Schwinn, hard rubber tires and my pops tellin my Mom "He doesn't need training wheels". Next memory of that bike that stands out is turning too quickly at a high rate of speed and planting myself into Illinois August Asphalt. You know the kind with all the little bubbly tar balls? Knocked the wind out of myself and laid there in that hot tar for what seemed like forever, making fish puckering sounds.... Of course it was summer and all I had on was a pair of shorts...
Good times! |
All of your stories of bike crash and burns are scaring me. But I guess I have to get used to it. I have two boys. Friends have told me to get used to injuries. You think I would be OK since I am a nurse. But there is a reason why I didn't do pediatrics. I would get too weepy with the sick kiddos. And I could NEVER do NICU.
And I have to say I am very proud of the bike. Who needs a man? :) |

Now, I'd suggest you forget the Boxster. With 2 boys, you're going to need rear jump seats for at least one of them. My 2 pesos. |
True. I have a while to play around with different ideas while I save. Heck, all I have is time!

My worst bike story was also in the summer.. and again like a dumb a$$ was only wearing shorts and trainers.:D Imagine a 14 yr old on a new ten speed barreling downhill on a gravel lane when suddenly a brick sticking out of a pothole is hit.... Two words....Super...Man... My mom came home from work and found me laying in a full tub (still in my shorts and trainers) trying to dig all the little pebbles out of knees, elbows, thighs, chest....:( Not trying to scare you here but, you got to get prepared Sister!;) |
My ex told me a story of when he was a boy with a paper route. Sounds very similar to your story. He hit something and went flying through the air and hit the ground. He said he must of passed out because he sad he came to and was lying sprawled out on the sidewalk. Didn't know how long he was out.
How do you boys survive? I think boys have more lives than a cat. |
There really isn't anything more resilient than juvenile males...........it's almost scary what young men can bounce back from.
On another note, I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this stupid iPad mini. Actually bought it for a kinda job. Doing some consulting for a friend and his entire business infrastructure is iOS so I needed something that would work when I was away from the house. Size is great, not quite as fast as my nexus 7 but close......and it's 4g capable. Sold the nexus 7 today on Craigslist. |
Sometimes I think its' Pure Effen Luck.

My worst bike crash was when I was pedaling at full speed. A car coming close forced me further to the side of the road. I hit the RR tracks and did a barrel roll landing in the gravel of the tracks. I was just a couple of feet from the road edge. I just lay there trapped under the bike figuring someone would stop and help. After what seemed a lifetime I gave up on someone helping me and struggled to get up. The handle bars were bent and one pedal was way bent. I just pedaled to the base hospital and walked in dripping blood on the floor. The hospital was closer than my house. My parents had just returned home so they were called by the hospital. The hospital gave me a piece of wood to bite down on as they scrubbed the wound with what felt like steel wool and iodine. I still have many scars from that crash.
Yea, get ready for lots of cuts and wounds. I had a broken collar bone, broken arm, and smashed my big toe and broke it in 6 places. Countless bike crashes, and other doctor visits. |
Broke my collar bone in a bike crash as well....
That really sucked, got hit by a car while on my way to school one day. At least I got out of school for the day |
It's amazing how tender the nerves of the chest are. I was totally in control when my mom was scrubbing....until she hit my chest area. I passed out on her.
She bandaged me all up in time to suit up for a Pony League game that evening. I went 2 for 3. |
I had the pants leg eating bike. Never failed to grab the pants and hang on.
