Just spoke with the service manager of the dealership...... they replaced the park brake actuator and that's good to go..... bit she told me that my thermostat housing is leaking as well as my transmission pan....I told her I was aware of the thermo housing and that it was a slow leak, but that they'd just serviced the transmission and replaced the pan 3 weeks ago so they'd need to handle that....she asks to call ke back.....calls back says tranny is fine, but thermo housing is leaking so bad it's dripping on the transmission. ....wtf....is that even possible?
I'm close to giving rebirth to the term postal

joe, you need to run from that dealership. where is the next nearest jag dealership?

HHI944 08-17-2013 11:39 AM

100 miles away.....and it's ~$600 to tow it there

nynor 08-17-2013 12:08 PM

it might be your best bet. what is that definition of insanity?

Rick V 08-17-2013 12:43 PM

Evening Y'all.
Well I got my new phone and had to spend an hour updating the OS, and all the customizing I like and I hate having to do all that crap. But I have my phone back. :)

nynor 08-17-2013 01:11 PM

well, the front main seal on the rover has failed. the gasket on the right engine cover on the ducati has failed. why do the vehicles go down in pairs?

anyway, special tools (ducati) and parts (rover) are ordered. the rover may need a sleeve on the pulley, also. so, i'll take that apart tomorrow and see what it looks like and order a sleeve as necessary.

there is my FB style post of the day.

Rick V 08-17-2013 01:14 PM

Always in pairs. It was the MB alternator and Bosxter PS line for me last week

nynor 08-17-2013 01:17 PM

i also have a new roll of paper towels. just in case.

nynor 08-17-2013 01:19 PM

one more rant: why is it that no one has the parts for my vehicles in stock, locally? are rovers THAT uncommon? no one had the main seal, except napa had it in a kit for the timing cover, $109 for the kit. it is a $9 part.

porsche4life 08-17-2013 01:44 PM

D... Since you can't find your tools and parts... Want to come help with my timing belt? ;). All the cold drinks and burned beef you can handle as payment. ;)

Same goes for you Rick! Ill even let ya tear up the pasture with the new ranger... ;)

Rick V 08-17-2013 01:55 PM

If ya weren't so far away Sid I would be happy to. My tool boxes are still on Peggy

porsche4life 08-17-2013 02:13 PM

Oh, I got tools... ;) Including a lift. Its really not that bad of a job, especially since I'm not monkeying with the water pump this time.

Just always nice to have an extra set of hands.

Morning Y'all
Richard you have to come up with a name for the soon to be monster kitty.
The best name I have ever heard for a pet came from FastPat, who couldn't come up with a name either.
They had two dogs and that was all they wanted, they ended up with this extra dog through a series of events, so that is what they named the dog, Extra.
I like this. Call it Ed - Extra Dog. ;)

Please.....I've replaced the tires, brakes, three air struts, an ABS speed sensor, parking brake actuator and AC Fan control module and need to replace a thermostat housing as well......in the last two months....

Porsche-poor 08-17-2013 03:49 PM

Sell it before you replace the car one part at a time.

HHI944 08-17-2013 03:50 PM

Oh yeah, the thermostat housing is a 4 hour job, because you have to take the freaking intake manifold off to get to it....

I'm really leaning towards trading in on a Cayenne so long as I can get it running with no obvious problems for more than 25 miles...
