Went karting yesterday, with the colleagues from work.
10 minute practice run.
10 minute qualifying.
20 minute race.

It was great fun, I didn't make the fastest laps but then again, I'm heavier than all the rest....

My neck's a bit sore though, them massive G forces are a beeotch....

Got the car fired and running tonight! Just need to put the bracket back on the airbox and a few other minor things.... oh ya.... and put the new Tstat in.... I farked up and forgot to put it in the new pump.... :(

The only thing I can figure is the wheel didn't snug all the way up when I re-installed it and torqued the lugs. The interesting thing to me is the design of the wheel and lugs would allow the lugs to be fully torqued to spec without fully snugging the wheel to the hub. One of the guys on a Rover forum says he always tightens his lugs with a big cheater bar to about 200 ftlbs making sure the wheel is snugged up, then backs them off and torques them to spec.

What you think is Aluminum on British cars (Jaguar also) is not Aluminum at all. It's a totally different material they call "Al u mini um." The metal it seems most like is the metal used on American cars we fondlly call "pot metal."

I remember long ago back when the world was black & white staying up to 5:00 AM. I don't think I have been up much past midnight in this millennium. The last all nighter I pulled was when Haley's comet first came back into view. I was in the astronomy club and we waited until just before dawn to see a little fuzzy blob in a 21 inch telescope.

Actually, I love my Rover. But it's too easy to poke fun at it. That said, I enjoy my Rover far more than any other vehicle I've owned. It has a unique style all its own.

The whole thing about the Rover AND the Porsche 928 GTS is that they are supposed to be expensive to maintain. However, I find the maintenance and repairs on both put together doesn't come anywhere near a new car payment/cost for just one car anywhere near the capabilities of either.

I like my 928GTS a bit more than my Range Rover Classic.

My Rover has actually been relatively cheap to maintain, but the weirdest **** happens to it. The top door half on the drivers side just fell off one day, that was 'interesting' I'm still not entirely sure they didn't design this thing to leak oil either.

As for liking the 928 more, get a REAL Rover. RRC's are nice, but they are not Series or Defender trucks. If you ever want to scare the crap out of someone, take a corner hard in one. They'll freak out, but it won't flip. CoG is ridiculously low.

I just got the classic for something cheap but nice to haul junk around town and handle inclement weather instead of the 928. So far I am a whole $1900 into it including transport halfway across the country and having a good Rover mechanic go thru it to make sure there wasn't going to be any surprises in the near future.

It hasn't left any drips on the driveway in two months and all the fluids are topped up :) so it has earned a space in the garage.
