The weather today was pure chamber of commerce perfect. Clear sky's 72 and no wind.

951 is fixed. sort of.

i found that it was the hose connected to the water pump fitting was terribly loose. so loose i could just pull if off. how in the world this thing stayed together this long, i have no idea. it wasn't me.... it was the shop that touched the water pump last time.

also, that plastic fitting comes plugged, because the same pump is used on turbo and non-turbos. for the turbo, you drill the end out, leaving the flange on the fitting. the shop chose to cut the end of the fitting off, along with the flange. again, how this didn't just pop off under pressure, i have no idea.

anyway, i wish i'd found the loose hose, before dropping the coolant.

when the new plastic fitting shows up, i'll be taking it apart and replacing that fitting. i think i'll reuse the coolant, as it is brand new.

i also took the opportunity to change the oil and filter.

Glen, I have heard about how fast the spots fill up for the autocross at Parade, and that it took only a couple hours to fill up the PCA race at Rennsport 4.

I'd like to do the tech quiz for Early 911, but does that mean I need to have my finger on the trigger come April 1 registration? Or can I just show up and sign up for the quiz when I get to Monterey?

GH85Carrera 02-22-2014 05:45 PM

Max, you will need to register for parade and when you do that you pick the events you want to participate in. If you register for the tech quiz you are fine. I doubt the tech quiz would sell out, but I guess it is possible. The biggest thing is to register for parade early. The earlier you register the lower your number and the more events you can get into.

Thanks.

Y'know what's good for that?

BEER!

Well, I'm satisfied with the work on the Series so far. I'm gonna tackle a few things on the Lotus tomorrow, gotta replace cam angle sensor seals and set timing.....but first have to buy a timing light...I'm used to setting timing with a multimeter and by ear...
I might also tackle a panel or two of vinyl. I went through and wet sanded a few spots where clear coat was starting to lift. I've been told that denatured alcohol is the best way to prep the surface, any tips??

As have I!
Cheers!

saw this little thing out and about today. The lotus is actually significantly smaller, just hard to tell by the picture, and a pretty solid 1.5" lower as well

Morning Y'all. Today I get to do chit for my son. I would really like to have a weekend to do chit for me

RKDinOKC 02-23-2014 05:04 AM

Good Morning.

Spending the day like I've spent the last week. Cleaning old sloppy paint edging off the crown moulding and baseboards and repainting the living room. It is a gritch getting the paint off and re-staining the crown moulding.. It is rough sawed cedar for that rusting look to go with the beams. The rough surface makes it a challenge. Sure glad they make Goof Off in an aerosol can otherwise it would be near impossible.

Have been copying all the episodes of Corner Gas to my watch later list on You Tube, then bringing up my You Tube account on the AppleTV and playing the watch later list, letting it run all day while cleaning and painting. Pretty much takes all day for each season. Made it through 4 of the 6 so far.

Rick V 02-23-2014 05:08 AM

I love that show.
I have a ton of work to do here but it seems I am not allowed to do any of it

RKDinOKC 02-23-2014 05:26 AM

This Internet TV thing has spoiled me. Now will wait for a season of a show to be over and watch the whole season from start to finish. Especially like finding the shows on YouTube because it has no commercials and is free. Was even able to watch RUSH off youtube.

GH85Carrera 02-23-2014 07:15 AM

Good morning folks. We are off to the movies this morning.

I got both of my cars washed yesterday. The 911 was fairly clean but had lots of miles since the last wash.

You are just too nice Rick. You need to get grumpier. Get off my lawn is a good mantra. Repeat it often.

replacing bushing in the Steering Column, and having a slight problem. The Big F'in Socket does not fit through the hole. Take a look at the picture, does this mean I need some special thin walled socket or something, or is there more that I have to take off here, I followed the directions took off the horn button thingy but I can't see how I can take any more off.

Am I missing something here, undid the battery, took off the horn cover, and tried the socket, put stuff back together.

azzarule 02-23-2014 07:25 AM

does the horn plate pop off, wasn't willing to start prying **** off.
