Aus/NZ are on our bucket list when we move permanently to SoCal. While we're still on the East Coast, we're going to try to fit in some travel to Europe. I should think about some time in South Africa, too. I hear the sailing is great there. :)

Stijn!!

Mrs Carrera gets sea sick at the thought of a small boat. Maybe we can do a river cruise in Germany. That would be cool.

UnZed is very pretty, we've only done haalf the south island in the two weeks we spent over there. Must go back and finish it off one day. We found Tassie very similar and are planning a couple more visits there too.

A european river cruise is on the bucket list too.

Oh great. My Sister in MO was going to come stay with Mom so I could take a vacation. Her grandson came down with a flesh eating virus so looks like she will be busy.

flipper35 10-21-2014 09:54 AM

I thought it never worked out well when your siblings came to stay with your mom?

RKDinOKC 10-21-2014 11:28 AM

Yep, that's the sister that always trys to get rid of Mom's stuff like Mom was already dead.
The problem with a senior with dementia is that when you remove their items, they may not know which items it was but that something is missing, it upsets them and they end up losing more daily function.

May not be a bad thing that my Sister can't help, BUT I really need a vacation from being a 24 hour care giver.

flipper35 10-21-2014 11:31 AM

No doubt, though it would be less worrisome if they behaved rationally.

My favourite places to travel in, France, northern battlefields of the area around the Somme, beautiful countryside and the people are lovely; southern France, the calanques around the southern coastline and the tiny villages are beautiful, people can be a bit gruff though; Italy, Rome I like Rome, anywhere around Italy, loved the people and the villages, the Tuscany area, Lake Como, the smaller villages of the Amalfi coast; Tasmania, the east coast and the west coast wilderness areas, beautiful and of course they speak english that's a bonus; Scotland the northern regions, the rugged coastlines and the old castles; Ireland, nuff said; Switzerland, what a beautiful country; Austria, wonderful scenery, beautiful architecture, very classical shopping, clothes, the people can be a bit perfunctory, but they are basically friendly and hospitable and the food and beer yummo.

Really I just like travelling.

Checked into getting a caregiver to stay with Mom for 5 days so I could go on holiday, $2100!

That gets someone trained to deal with Alzheimer's, provide meals, and companionship. That's it.

Evening Y'all.
Richard that is some serous coin.
I have decided that since I have never had a warm birthday and turning fifty this year if I can arrange for my kitties care Beth and I are going to spend my birthday in Tuscon. I am really looking forward to it

Jim Richards 10-21-2014 02:48 PM

Meh. I like hammering, troweling and painting. Weeding, and trimming the shrubs, too.

Have started making the Christmas prezzies for the ladies in my life, quite enjoying it, craft stuff is fun, making a mess of the dining table though. Oh well it will only take a few more days, of course I am in no hurry, and I have also run out of some stuff, so I need to go shopping so I can finish doing stuff.

But now its time for bed. I will post photos of my craft work when I have finished.
