I enjoy visiting with a friends kids as well. They do tire me out, but it's great to go home to silence. :)

It is just a paper, an empty institution, IMO. (your opnion may vary)

And babies... I am 100% sure that not everybody is suitable to raise children.
Everybody has the right to produce and raise offspring but some are just not suiteable/capable, right for the job.
I am one of those people. Too immature, too hooked on my carefree life, too fond of my money that I can spend on whatever I want. The thought of having to care for something and not being able to stop, put it down and do something else, is scary. I just don't want take care of any lifeform more evolved than my ficus.

Maybe my view on this will change, but it has been this way for as long as I can remember...

And I'm not having children because "you'll be an old dad if you don't have one now".
F that.
Or "you'll like it when you have one"
F that, what if I don't? Can I drop it on your doorstep???

Chicken? Maybe, but one that has thought things through for himself.

if it's empty and meaningless, then it shouldn't be a problem, right?

i hear you on the kid thing. i have one, but....

believe me, i respect your opinion and your stance. i even understand it.

When I want to hold one, I'll go visit some friends, hold it for a minute and then give it back.
I absolutely love dogs and I would love to have one, but I don't because I don't want the "hassle" of having to support a lifeform other than my own... Babies? No thanks...

Babies, no way. I am happy to announce that I have NEVER EVER changed a diaper in my life. I plan to keep at it until I get it right.

I had a LONG day at the autocross today. It ran on time and was a lot of fun. As soon as our run group was released I packed up my car and went to do my volunteer work. I was a corner worker. I stood under a tent and had all the ice cold water I wanted. The operative word is STOOD. They don't want anyone to sit in case a car is out of control and you need to run to a safe area. It was fun to be close to the action but tough to stand for 4.5 hours.

And no, I did not even get close to winning. The rules allow autocross special R compound tire in the same class as me on street tires. That is 5 to 6 seconds at least.

It was a fun course even if I was not close to winning.

Schumi 07-07-2010 06:46 PM

Glen-

you guys are that close to the track that you have to be worried about out of control cars in the paddock? There is no concrete wall or guardrails between the paddock and the course? I don't like that at all...

porsche4life 07-07-2010 06:48 PM

He was working a corner... Not standing in the paddock... I imagine they had an easy up out on the corners...

porsche4life 07-07-2010 07:06 PM

Yikes guys... I guess you could say we've done work...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1278558405.jpg

slodave 07-07-2010 07:10 PM

Seriously Mike, come out to Cal Speedway on the 18th.. :)

porsche4life 07-07-2010 07:12 PM

I think you should Mike... I would if I was closer...

RKDinOKC 07-07-2010 08:06 PM

Mike—

The operative word here is AUTOCROSS. This is NOT a track event. It is a parking lot event where speeds are not supposed to exceed 65mph. There are no barriers or guard rails only cones and maybe curbs.

Glen—

I hear ya man. Maybe we could start a business where we rent autocross tires, pre-arrange like the Hoosier tire guys sell mount and balance tires at club races. I know a guy that has a semi tractor and trailer. Think there would be enough tire rentals to make it worth while at an event like Parade?

porsche4life 07-07-2010 08:08 PM

I volunteer my tire machine and services for a cut...

porsche4life 07-07-2010 08:09 PM

I think you would have to find a way to sell them used... Sell them with lots of life left for the best resale value... Plus who wants to rent worn out tires?

Schumi 07-07-2010 08:38 PM

Richard: I've driven in many autocrosses. At speeds well exceeding 65mph.

Just never at one where there wasn't a barrier wall between the lot and paddock.

porsche4life 07-07-2010 08:41 PM

You've never been in a WBR autocross then....

slodave 07-07-2010 08:43 PM

We don't have Paddock's out here... At least, not for parking lot AX's.

Geronimo '74 07-07-2010 09:08 PM

Morning guys,

won't be around much, busy busy day, need to finish a lot of work.
Play nice y'all ya hear.

porsche4life 07-07-2010 09:12 PM

What are ya gunna do if we don't play nice?

Geronimo '74 07-07-2010 09:13 PM

Sit in a dark corner under the stairs and cry....
