And get a cheater pipe for your pull handle. Just get a longer handle. That will either break it loose or break it off.

Good Friday morning.

Morning ladies and gents SmileWavy

'red wrench'?

The location of the bolt is the biggest problem. It's the top bolt on the U clamp. I've got stuff all space to get at it. Hopefully it gives up it's fight soon.

Hmm, don't have a gas axe handy, and don't have room to get a grinder into it. :(

Rick V 01-30-2015 12:54 PM

Like Glen said use a cheater bar and snap the bastard off, make it your b1tch

GH85Carrera 01-30-2015 01:05 PM

One of the neighborhood guys that lives a block away saw me in the garage tinkering. He asked if I had a big cheater bar. I showed him my 3 foot long 1 inch drive big killer bar. He asked what I use it for and I pointed at the rear axle nut on the 911. It gets torqued to some crazy value like 345 lb feet.

Anyway he asked if he could drive his pick up over. He has a stuck lug nut. His electric impact was not strong enough and he had already broken one of his wrenches. It twisted right out with ease with the extra leverage. He had been jumping up and down on his 18 inch pull handle.

I like the hydraulic rattle wrenches when all else fails. The break it loose or break it off!

Outback Porsche 01-30-2015 01:06 PM

it's in the play book ;)

GH85Carrera 01-30-2015 01:11 PM

My air impact claims it does 600 pound feet to remove things. I think that is wildly optimistic. I have let it hammer on a socket for a while. Standing on the last 6 inches of the 3 foot bar twisted the head of the bolt right off. Hydraulic is just cheating! ;)

Have a battery operated air compressor for airing up at and after autocross. When I started using a second set of wheels/tires for autocross it didn't take long before I got a 12v impact wrench. The impact wrench plugged into and ran off the air compressor battery. Worked GREAT!

Also found the 12v impact wrench works wonders on stubborn fasteners. Something about the way is spins up then hits the bolt, repeat.

I tend to break things with a cheater bar. I have a 4 ft long pipe/tubing bender that the non-bender end has a hole my 1/2 drive socket driver handle fits in nicely.

That reminds me...i probably need to get my torque wrench re-calibrated.
