I just do on demand, or wait till it makes netfix.
The last time I saw a movie in a theater is was the first day Matrix Revolution came out. |
The cell phone thing is usually not an issue. No one can miss the many commercials to turn off your cell phone. The theaters we go to all have stadium seating and reasonable leg room. The reason we go on Sunday morning it to avoid the big crowds. There were just 30 or 40 people in the theater. They were showing that movie in several theaters and several times per day and it came out 17 days ago.

Morning Y'all,
I don't wanna go to W today |
I'm glad I didn't. Prolly should tomorrow though :(
Pooch's annual check up done for another year this morning, and a fun arvo smacking the little white ball. |
75 degrees with matching humidity this morning at 5:00,you can cut the air with a knife. Just like RKDinOKC said, my grill has the burner rusted out on it, could brely grill some ribeyes the other night.

Mertnin.
Cheaped out and ordered parts for the Grill instead of moneying up for a new one. |
Morning everyone.
It is so humid here it is foggy. Not super thick fog but foggy. |
Same here with the humidity until tomorrow.
Back to the inlaws to stain the back deck and then the job is finished. |
Quote:
Never use fresh coffee for that. Rick will hunt you down for wasting good coffee. You can just throw the coffee grounds on the deck. That will leave a good stain. |
I'm with Rick. NEVER waste coffee.
It's only 5 ft wide by about 30 ft long so it should only take a few hours. The railings and spindles are time consuming and tedious. |
Monday? I miss the weekends seems like just yesterday.
Have a good one peoples. |
Too much drinking over the weekend makes me feel like a fatty-mo-lumpfish on Monday, not good.
Good news is the Mrs and I are headed to the family beach house on Thursday and will be enjoying the long weekend with the in-laws. (Real) FIL and I get along great and he needs some down time, new gig has him all over the world and it's clearly running him down, and fast. |
Glen, we took the kids a week ago to the new Avengers movie and it was $45 for all four of us plus snacks. It was a good time and the kids like seeing some in the big theater. probably won't go again until Star Wars. It has been tradition to see those in the theater, even when they suck.
We saw a big red rectangle over central OK over the weekend. We were supposed to have storms but mostly had wind. We have some pine trees dying off so I cut the first of three down on Saturday the old fashioned way. It was good therapy swinging an ax. It wasn't a huge one, probably 35'-40' tall. Dad and I used chainsaws to butch it up though. We have planted dwarf fruit trees in place of the dying pines. The plum tree is actually a pretty attractive tree when it blossoms and in the fall. The cherry as well. Works sucks as usual, not badly like a couple weeks ago. Several of us are going to the local casino for lunch. It is my boss' birthday and she chose the place. |
For sure watching a movie in 3D iMax is just a far better experience than any other theater and orders of magnitude better than TV at home. It is just so clear and sharp with fantastic detail and the sound is immersive. It makes you think you are right in the middle of the action.
|
We watched the Fighter School 3D iMax at the museum in Dayton. The kids loved it but the problem I have is that it looks like paper cutouts. The focus doesn't change when you look at different depths and it is jarring to me. Regular iMax is great. I would like to play with a new Oculus Rift however.

I got my maters in the ground. Just in time for a weekend of rain and crappy weather.
|
Well they should be getting plenty of good water then.
|
The strangest part of Imax 3D is it is so big and sharp you can actually look around on screen and see the stuff in the background or off to one side that is not part of the main focus. It is much like being there and having the ability to look around and now just watch what is the center point of the film. I find I am using my peripheral vision a lot more at those movies. As I mentioned before it is very immersive. You really feel like you are part of the action. The see and hear some exploding thing go right past you and hear it go from side to side is just cool.
|
The audio certainly helps along with the really big screen and the big screen really helps make it feel like you are there. The 3D makes it look more "fake" to me. Probably just how my eyes work since lots of people enjoy 3D such as yourself.
These screens would be awesome for a flight simulator display. |
I'm just cheap when it comes to watching movies. And I do have very good surround sound.
Playing games in 3d reminds me of back in 90. Friend had a setup with one of the first 25" monitors and two smaller monitors. His desk was setup so you had the big on in front and the two smaller ones on either side. He new the programer for a flying game called Hellcats of the South Pacific. It was VERY immersive, especially since it was basically written for his setup. In the late 70's I took a tour of our local FAA center. They let us fly in a couple of their airline flight simulators were the whole cockpit had screens for windows and the room moved. When it looked like a crash was inevitable, I rushed out of my seat, opened the door, and jumped off the simulator. They thought it was hilarious, said they had never had anyone bail out before! |
