Oh my goodness. It's morning already? What happened? Was sitting there watching TV and all the sudden it's 5:30am. Must have blacked out or something.

You seem to be "blacking out" alot here recently.....alcohol induced ?

RKDinOKC 08-06-2015 03:25 AM

Not that I know of. Seems that if I lay on the bed, couch, or get comfortable in the lazy boy I just lose consciousness for a while. Sometimes as long as 7 or 8 hours.

Congrats Azzy! It's always nice to see the results of your hard work. SmileWavy

GH85Carrera 08-06-2015 04:46 AM

Congrats Azzy. Cool airplane.

We made it over hump day and on the downhill slide into the weekend.

RKDinOKC 08-06-2015 06:37 AM

Growler is a good name, it does make a noise.

Porsche-poor 08-06-2015 07:19 AM

Congrats. They are a good airframe and a good replacement for the Prowler for the US Navy.

What did you replace the F-111 with?

(Please don't say the F-35, please don't say the F-35...)

Porsche-poor 08-06-2015 07:28 AM

I'm getting to old to watch stuff like that. The young pilot in the vid hardly looks old enough to drive.

[Cartman Voice]F35s piss me off. They say they wanna be an awesome badass next gen fighter, but all they do maneuver poorly, have computer glitches and make obscene amount of noise [/Cartman Voice]

I would like to ask Captain Kim Campbell if she feels she would have been better off in the F-35 that fateful day near Baghdad.

She might well have been because tactics employed are totally differently. She would have been farther away and moving faster.

flipper35 08-06-2015 08:54 AM

In some cases, yes. In this case she had to come below cloud cover to engage. At least that is my understanding. Colonel Bobby Efferson's situation I don't know other than he took a hit at altitude and speed. The stand-of capabilities of the weapons now is good but they can be used on other aircraft as well. Heck, an F-15E took out a flying helicopter with a Paveway just because.

Since I am not privy to any top secret stuff I am not aware of how invisible it is to sensors but down and dirty protecting the guys on the ground you sometimes have to get close and as far as i know they are not invisible to the Mk 1.

I agree that some commonality is good. The F-16 using the same engine as the F-15 during the fly offs was part of the deciding factor. That said, using one basic airframe for all three services is stupid. Bad enough for two services and the Phantom is the only real successful to do so, but it still needed a gun.

GH85Carrera 08-06-2015 12:16 PM

Our pilot bought another neat new toy. It is a 1948 Cessna 140. After 67 years of service it only has 2,000 hours on it. The previous owner has owned it for 40 years. It is just a toy for him.

porsche4life 08-06-2015 12:18 PM

Thats a little bitty guy! I've seen a few 150s for sale. Don't think I've seen a 140 around here.

flipper35 08-06-2015 12:29 PM

A 140 would be cool. I could use the neighbors drainage area in his field for a runway.

I learned on a 152. Rugged little trainers but conventional gear is better on soft fields.

GH85Carrera 08-06-2015 12:33 PM

Stijn!!

Yep, it is basic tail dragger aircraft. No computers, and it is mostly original. It does have more modern radio. I told him it will be a real anachronism when he straps his 696 aviation GPS to the stick. :p

Evening Y'all,
Spent my day overhauling a subi 2.0 single cam engine, I loved it because my boss was totally lost at the design f a horizontally opposed engine, they make no sense to him. He stayed away from me.
Looking forward to this weekend, it is gonna be a blast having Cashflyer here, it has been a while since we saw each other and it is going to involve getting him used to TBST so he can drive all the way to Greenvill SC................at 55mph.................with military tires..............sitting on top of a big Cat engine...................with no radio.........................This is gonna be fun

Outback Porsche 08-06-2015 02:21 PM
