One reason we moved into our current house was my wife wanted more room for her antiques (other than me) and she soon filled that space. I wanted a 3 car garage and we found a house with the oversize 3 car garage with a workspace and I was sold on moving.

Good Friday morning everyone. TGIF.

I'm getting ready for bed.

When I was growing up my parents were friends with some people that lived in a cheap housing area of OKC. When we visited there was barely room to get thru their house with all the anitiques and what I considered knick knack junk. It wasn't as bad as you see on those hoarder shows, none of it was papers, clothes, or trash and all fairly well organized. I later found they lived in the cheaper neighborhood because they owned 3 other houses close by. Those houses were cheap storage stuffed with antiques.

After her husband died she talked about instead of putting money in the bank she bought antiques and knick knack stuff that was worth more than what she paid for it. A couple of times she tried moving herself to a nicer home, but her storage homes would get vandalized so she would move back to protect her stuff.

Finally she got to where she couldn't take care of herself and moved in with her daughter in CA. I don't know what happened to all her stuff.

This sounds like every person on that show "Hoarders". They accumulate junk over the years that they believe are treasures, they die, and the kids who don't want to deal with it, hire an excavator and dump truck to haul it to the dump. What a shame that as they age, people don't downsize and sell thier treasures to live a better, easier life.

For the same reason they sell carbon fiber hoods and stickers for rice burners.

The antiques my wife has are all nice pieces. It is a LONG way from cluttered. She does have an overabundance of old mantle and wall clocks.

flipper35 08-14-2015 07:59 AM

I think the only thing my wife likes to collect is open space.

She talked to my Mom about selling some of her stuff so she could buy some more property. She wanted a place in the country with horses. Mom told her I would help put the stuff on ebay, etc but she didn't trust me to not rip her off.

Her car had a problem with one of the electric window motors. The nice guy I am, I fixed it for cost of the new motor and she accused me of faking the parts receipt to rip her off.

The big difference between her and the hoarder shows I've seen is she had lots and antique furniture and valuable collector items, and no trash or clothes.

I seem to collect things with motors.... Only one of us in this house thinks that's a problem. ;)

So which one of the boys thinks that is a problem?

Porsche-poor 08-14-2015 09:51 AM

morning all. the day is half over and I'm ready to hit the road and get on a plane west!!!!!

GH85Carrera 08-14-2015 01:11 PM

Three years ago today I had my hip replacement. So if parts of me are just three and I take the cube root of the age of the rest of the parts in my body and multiply that by the age of my new hip I am 11 3/4. My wife says I act like a 12 year old most of the time so I figure it works for me.

Porsche-poor 08-14-2015 01:41 PM

If I ever have to do that much math to figure my age its time to lie about it.

Porsche-poor 08-14-2015 02:48 PM

On that note I am out of here. I'll see if I have access to wifi and post next week from the beach!

GH85Carrera 08-14-2015 03:10 PM

Stijn!!

Have fun. Enjoy the beach!

I am glad it is you and not me and you are just as glad. I have had enough beach life. BTDT.

well they just promoted the most most incompetent and lazy person in our office to be my supervisor. un-fkn-believable.

RKDinOKC 08-14-2015 03:59 PM

Office Space was just too close to the truth. Just say under your breath..."I could burn this place down."

But think about it. Do you want incompetence doing the work or watching everyone else do the work? Unless of course, you make the process so brain dead anyone can do the work.

Oh Haha 08-14-2015 04:02 PM

Sounds like it's time to attend a leadership seminar.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

our department was the biz, until the manager was promoted about four months ago. since then, it's been one fktarded decision after another.

yeah, i am looking for new work. and i know that just about everyone else on my team is doing the same.

that said, i may not have to leave, if i don't find work within three months. the sheer incompetence of this individual will become clearly and irrevocably apparent before three months.

it is gonna be a riot to watch this inferno.
