My son took off to his friend's house a few blocks away. His friend called me and asked if Jake was coming over. I advised that he was on his way.

Instinctively, I open the front to door to see if he is around. Just then I see and hear an ambulance leaving the scene at the cross roads.

I called his friend back and asked if he arrived. "Yeah, we are in the side yard, why?"

Hah, my mom still calls me if she hears an ambulance or fire truck around the time I commute to work.
