It sounds like a benign storm.

Glad you guys are ok.

My kids still get a laugh out of the term "scaredy hole".:D

Porsche-poor 04-27-2016 06:10 AM

morning all. Glad to hear that all went well for you last night.

RKDinOKC 04-27-2016 06:14 AM

Went to get a breakfast croissant this morning and there was a tree down across the road a block away. Weird, no other evidence.

Also called a "fraidy hole" We have one in the garage and the 911 parks over it. The 911 is short enough it is easy to go down there. If the Elky is over there I have to pull all the way forward to the point the front bumper is against the junk on the storage shelf.

My parents had one under the back porch at their house. Dad would say "If you hear me say it is time to go to the shelter and you say what, you are talking to yourself."

RKDinOKC 04-27-2016 08:49 AM

Growing up only one house in our neighborhood had a fraidy hole. They never cleaned it. Always had a few inches of nasty watery goop in it. Nobody wanted to go to the fraidy hole.

Porsche-poor 04-27-2016 08:53 AM

So far those are not needed out here.

Maybe not, but Tsunamis are something we will never ever have to worry about. :p

From one report I saw virtually every county in the continental US had had at least one tornado. We get a few almost every year but no tsunamis in last few million years. ;)

Porsche-poor 04-27-2016 09:51 AM

Not worried about those either. my house is well above sea level.

Yea, but when all of Tacoma and Seattle area is underwater everyone downtown will be living at your house.

Jim Richards 04-27-2016 09:58 AM

My house is quite a bit above sea level, too.

So just mud slides and wildfires besides the earthquakes to worry about SmileWavy

Figure if it's your time, it don't matter where you are. Just hope it's not the guy next to me on the fight who's time it is.

Gives new meaning to the fraidy hole.

Glad it was more hype, less action kind of like a lot of movies lately.

GH85Carrera 04-27-2016 11:38 AM

We cleaned the shelter this spring. There is always a collection of dead bugs and leaves in the bottom. If any water get in we will be calling the company that put it in. It is guaranteed dry for 25 years as I remember. There was some water at the level in the dirt when they dug it. When they dug the hole in the back yard for the sewer much deeper it was dry.

Mud slides require rain, Glen. In SoCal...LOL. :D

In theory it can happen! It has happened in the past ;)

It looks like a F0 or so tornado came down about 4 miles south of us for a very short period.

Jim Richards 04-27-2016 05:06 PM

F0.238.

G'day peeples SmileWavy

Waiting around at the barber's for a headjob and catching up on the thread.

The old chest freezer shat itself yesterday, well it prolly happened on Tuesday coz yesterday we was throwing dead food out and cooking up the rest that was mostly defrosted. Only the stuff right at the bottom was still frozen.

I knocked off early today to go buy a new freezer with the missus. Hmm I'm a sucker, she found a Miele one she liked. It gets delivered tomorrow. Problem is it has a companion that's also getting delivered tomorrow.
