UPS should up today and brought two more packages. One was for me and I picked it up to see who it was from and it was all gooey. I looked at the counter where he put it down and it was all gooey. It has conditioner from some other shipment going to a hair salon. Our other box was OK.

The driver is a nice guy that comes to the autocross in his nice Honda or VW or something fairly new but an appliance 4 door sedan. Nice enough guy and a decent driver. He said his clutch is starting to slip. It is a fairly new car and the clutch is slipping? He asked how long I have been autocrossing. I told him only 40 years and still having fun. I have never hurt my car in 40 years. I have chewed up a LOT of tires and brakes, but no mechanical or body damage.

Oh yeah, like I would forget it. They started on putting the motor back in the 928 yesterday...Yipie.

They put a new clutch slave in. Probably needs new rubber in the master cylinder too since it is 22 years old now.

Trying to not get excited, but any progress makes me smile.

So it will be just the old loose nut behind the steering wheel problem if it ever gets done. ;)

RKDinOKC 07-19-2016 12:04 PM

Probably won't be able at afford to replace that.

The two burner with infrared and a gauge on the tank looks pretty good. There is zero space to put any flavor briquets in it though. If so it would be KILLER!

Just throw some hickory or apple in some tin foil with just a few holes and you get some good flavor. We bought dad one of the infrared grills. They say they don't flare up but that is a lie. At least when you are doing a standing rib roast that is a big fat freaking lie.

Pete, did the grand kid arrive yet. Mrs Carrera keeps asking me. I don't remember you mentioning it.

Not yet but very soon. Due date is sometime next week.

If it's hot enough to grill and the meat is juicy, it's gonna flare up!

Tried chips, ended up getting some of those ceramic flavor briquets and putting them around in the bottom of the grill. It's not optimal, but it does add some flavor.

Just liked it because with charcoal it takes long enough to get the chrarcoal fired up and ready to go, on my gas grill I'd be done and eating. That's why I really liked that Chargrill we used to have that had the flavor briquets on a grate between the burners and the grill. It distributed the heat AND added charcoal flavor on gas.

Are you implying that Richard is either nuts or loose?

But why be normal?

Yea, I made a few batches of home brew. Way too much work for mediocre beer. The near infinite micro brews and import available make home brew pure hobby. It can still be fun if you have the space to do it.

I've set up a digital control system for the brewing, which was a fun process control project. It also makes brew day REALLY easy, and not very messy at all. I'll grant that my beer isn't always as good as the commercial stuff, but it's fun to have unusual stuff on tap -- I make a mango habanero wheat, and a smoked ale, and a gose, all of which are kind of obscure and hard to find, even here in the PNW.

(shrug) It definitely falls more into the "because it's fun to do" than the "because it saves me time and money" camp, but given the assumption that I'm going to drink beer anyway, it's a super low cost hobby. :)

Great Uncle back in Tenn makes his own beer. It was really good. He kept telling us that hadn't had his "home brew" to slow down, but just one beer was like having a couple of mixed drinks. My great aunte just laughed at us for getting drunk on it. Me thinks he just used beer to flavor his shine!

Bollocks, lol

Good morning from the loose nut.

Figured out why Pokémon Go has became so popular so quickly...A fantasy world were players don't have to think about or listen to the presidential options.

Happy Humpus Day gents!

GH85Carrera 07-20-2016 04:16 AM

Almost over the hump and about to start the downhill slide toward the weekend.

We are working on the testing and development phase of supplying the mapping data for a potential large contract. Right now we still don't know if it is going to be huge for us or if the client is another "big hat no cattle" or all talk no money company. We are several weeks in and they were supposed to be paying up in net 15 days. So far no money has arrived just excuses. The good new is we have learned a LOT by just figuring out HOW to do what they want. If the contract does fall apart we are pretty sure we can sell that type of data to other companies.

Back to mouse clicking. I mean measuring and data production.

ckelly78z 07-20-2016 05:17 AM

Already over the hump for me (I have Friday off). Friday is supposed to be 96-98 degrees with nearly matching humidity......sounds like a good day for some yard work (pool).

Oh Haha 07-20-2016 05:26 AM

Yep, the newsreaders are already talking about "Heatwave 2016" for the weekend.

Good customer service story:

I tore my next to last left contact lens this morning. I called 1800CONTACTS to see about ordering more. My prescription is old so they cannot fill it. In talking to the gal I mentioned that I had ripped the lens. "Oh, we can send you a replacement at no charge."

Sweet!

I called our eye doc after and the soonest I can get in is mid August but at least I will have another pair for the time being.

Porsche-poor 07-20-2016 06:05 AM

morning all. I think I need to sleep at least 12 hours a day. Then maybe I'd be less grumpy.

Oh Haha 07-20-2016 06:11 AM

If you are still in pain, that will make you grumpy.

My kids put ringtones on my phone for when they call me. Sarah picked "Jekyll and Hyde" by 5FDP. Jake picked "Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC.

There is no question they are mine. :D

I think it would be difficult to gracefully powerslide an articulated tandem axle truck.
