Disk clean up got me 1GB.
My Outlook data file is 28GB! I only have Win7 so guess will have to pay for an upgrade to 10. Do have free office download though. |
Yea, the free upgrade expired on the 29th of last month.
|
Yeah and the super smart "Enterprise" oriented IT Director told me to NOT upgrade my Win7Pro while it was free too.
|
Does he own stock in Microsoft? That cost ya money.
It will be interesting to see how long before Microsoft goes to a monthly fee to even run Win 10. I bet it will be just like Office 365. Only available to people with internet connections that pay for it every month or yearly to the end of time. No more buy it and use it until that computer dies. |
Daughter says thank you for the con/hamdolences.
I did the disk cleanup as suggested and it seems to have made a difference. I really appreciate you guys that know computers giving us that don't tips like that. |
My hard drive space problem is creating Outlook profiles for users to help them with stuff. It downloads all their stuff. When done i have to go delete the data and autodiscovry files, and since the people having problem usual have shared folders open from several other people thier data files are huge.
If you use outlook you might take a gander at the folder the data files are stored in, you may have a couple of copies wasting space. Sometimes if it has trouble connecting it makes a new data file and leaves the old one taking up space. |
Sent and email to Charbroil asking what accessories they have for their Big Easy 3in1 Smoker, Roaster, grill because their site wasn't very clear as to which accessories go with which Big Easy smoker, there are 3 sizes. They sent me back a list and are giving me a 15% off on anything I order including the grill itself. The accessories includes stuff like gloves, cleaning brushes, aprons, grill covers, smoking chips, all kinds of stuff.

Looking at the online monitoring of my electrical usage my base usage is about 1.3 kWh per hour. With the hot afternoons it goes up to about 2.7 kWh per hour. It jumps to around 3 if I cook on the stove, run the dishwaher, or washer and dryer. Don't know if that is good or not.

Last night as I turned off the lights in my home office to go to bed I looked at all the "stuff" with lights. From the paper shredder, security system DVR, Tivo, TV, cable modem, router, switches, answering machine and the charger for the flashlight it is for sure all aglow in there.

If you use Outlook, it downloads em.
Look at C:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook |
Lets see...Internet
Cable modem 7 watts 8 port gigabit switch 4 watts Airport wifi router 7 watts |
If it were in the office I would agree to skip the Windows 10 upgrade but for your use at the home office and your IT knowledge I wouldn't have had a problem. It would burn up a tone of bandwidth here so we have yet to upgrade. Windows 10 will be the only version available come November 1st though.
My local outlook folder is only 622kb. :) |
Win10 is fighting me every step of the way. Maybe it would be easier if I had started with a couple of beers first. Or at least less stressful.
Can see why Director doesn't want to switch it is just different enough to confuse people. Wonder what he is going to do when they get new boxes that come with 10. Takes forever to install the Office cause it installs, word, excel, powerpoint, outlook, onenote, publisher, skype, onedrive, and access. Would be nice if it let me pick and choose which ones I wanted. |
Volume license for Win 7 I would guess.
I personally don't like the fact you can't turn a lot of the stuff off and it is stuff we really don't want on in healthcare. |
It's the Office365 license. You get all or none.

Well, the win10 anniversary update sucks ginormous gonads.
It reinstalls most of the bloat removed, reactivates that spyware called cortana, and removes firewall directives. In particular the one that stops what's left of cortana spreading rumours about my browsing habits and other important stuff. Cortana's a whore. |
Win 10 is annoying in that it installs so MUCH crap. It acts like all computers are a tablet owned by a social media freak millennial. No I don't want the contact app, the shopping, Xbox, games and other useless crap. It is challenge to get one drive to just go away. I will never ever use Onedrive or Cortina.
Cortina is there forever. And NO I don't want Microsoft to monitor everything I type and all my contacts so they can help me and I don't need to send constant feedback to them about how I use my computer. |
Oh, and the update will uninstall any program it decides is incompatible with it.
|
I updated my Win 10 today. I have not seen those problems. Maybe I am lucky. ;)
