Is that some sort of weird british maid's uniform?
I like the french one better with the ruffly white apron and the little hat. http://heavyeditorial.files.wordpres...trip=all&w=400 I'm thinking it's about time for an oil change. |
Hey, I've got an invite to go to the local drag races tomorrow. First time ever.
If this is what to expect, I don't think I've got the right outfit  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1437726880.jpg |

Our local drag strip is called Thunder Valley. I've been there twice. Both times on test and tune night. First time was to test some mods for Lindsey Racing on my 944 Turbo. 13 second 1/4 mile.
They do have that show Street Outlaws about street racing here in OKC. One of the guys on the show owns the shop where I dyno my cars. |

That would be Chuck. He has the white Mustang. He had dynoed bot of my cars.
One of my buddies in the El Camino club goes to some of the races. They don't want a large crowd there and a bunch of lookie loos getting in the way. Discovery channel bought an old abandoned airport that is fenced off. They are on private property that way and it keeps the lawyers happy. |

I thought I read somewhere that they run 1/8 mile races. We have some serious street racers in Flint. It's not a place I feel comfortable going as there are guns and not-so-upstanding folk that tend to hang out. I can hear them run on clear nights, though.
|
You don't see many furin cars at the drag strip either. Chuck is the bald guy with the goatee and drives the "Death Trap" white mustang. It's interesting, before this show Chuck was the Honda sponsored national champion in his Honda Civic with over 1500 hp. His shop, Alternative Motorsports was basically an independent Honda garage.
One of the guys in the Porsche club and for a while many of the non-porsche autocross guys are OKC street racers. They kinda hang out on Friday and Saturday nights cruising around town. At some point they decide on one of the 8 or 9 places around town and they go have a few races. They move around a LOT to keep from getting caught. One of them asked me to make some signs that are like protesting signs against street racing so if the cops come they could look like they are protesting instead of just spectating or participating. That is where you see the mix up of all kinds of cars. Oh yeah, one of them is an OKC police officer. |
morning all. congrats on 2.0
off to make Friday as short as possible. |
WTF? I don't remember eating that!
|
Congrats on 2.0 and I hope it isn't a buggy version.
Sid, since it is a Browning patent it is a lot like an Auto 5. The bad part is when the barrel hits the stops for your second hit. Growing up we just tossed cans and I could stick the wad in every single shot. Jeff, I was pretty sure you have a fancy outfit for the drag races. You would probably get more sponsors with it as well. |
Drop dead gorgeous weather here in DC today. Sure, it's in the 80s, but there's very little humidity and a nice breeze...makes me wish I was out sailing instead of being lashed to my desk. I can finally see the weekend on the horizon. Arrr.
|
sweep the desk off jump on top and yell land ho! they will kick you out.
Sunday is the big day for Connor. Hoping it all goes well |
I just tried standing on my desk and yelling "Land Ho!". The only reaction I got was Pepper woke up from her nap, looked at me, then went back to sleep.
|
As you start your weekend remember, today is National Tequila Day.
