Morning.

The US Marshall's have an active manhunt in my area...

RKDinOKC 02-08-2017 06:55 AM

Hope you got a good hiding place! :)

When I went to pick up a friend in my GMC Jimmy there were police cars wizzing around and Officers running around on foot. I had the Dessert Eagle in a holster in the center console. Since I had no idea what the police were doing except for obviously looking for someone, I pulled the DE out of the console and set it on top of the console. My friend freaked. Told him at the time is was illegal to have a concealed gun in a vehicle.

An officer, gun drawn, actually came up to the window as we were driving away from the friend's house. He asked if we had seen a guy running and gave a description. We hadn't. He said thanks and took off running. Didn't say a thing about the Desert Eagle laying on the console in plain sight between us.

Having the gun out in plain sight was the proper thing to do back then. Would have hated to have kept the gun in the console and have them search my car for whatever reason. THAT would have gotten us in trouble.

With all the new conceal and carry stuff today, don't really know what is proper to do. Guess I need to take a class and get a permit just to find out so I don't get in trouble.

Hopefully they are not looking for you!:eek:

One night late at night I was sound asleep and my bedroom light up like in the horror movies. I was real sure it was not extraterrestrials. The local police department had the bazillion watt helicopter searchlight shining on my windows. Some fugitive was in the area. I never found out if they caught anyone.

I see they have one coming up in Lincoln NE in the summer. While not close, my wife has family there she would like to visit.

My uncle had a helicopter landing light as his spot light on his Toyota truck. Ran on 24v.

Years ago a friend and I saw a car come down the road and take the corner pretty wildly. Moments later a squad car came looking for something and we assumed the car was that something. I flashed my lights and we told him what car it was and where it went. He told us please wait there and he would be back. As he was talking to us we could hear the radio talking about the suspected terrorist and possibly armed. We did wait for him, but our heads were on a swivel and we were ready to bug out if need be. We could have easily outrun the late 80's brown Cutlass if we saw it again.

Joe, we aren't going to see news footage from a helicopter of a hulk of a man ripping the steering wheel out of a Marshall's car while on the run. Right?

Hey.

I got my recovered drum back and it looks great. Whilst picking it up, I casually mention that I would like to own a particular snare drum from the 70s. Drum guy tells me that he has one. Oh boy, here we go. I'm picking it up tomorrow. DOH!

To keep my wife liking me for all the recent drum nonsense I put one of my others up for sale. If I get my asking price, the 70s one will only cost me $5. :D

flipper35 02-08-2017 12:34 PM

Sounds like a fair trade I suppose. Though you can never have too many in your kit. Unless you have to store them outside, then you have too many.

Oh Haha 02-08-2017 12:52 PM

I've never been a collector of drums. The one I'm selling is a Yamaha. The one I'm getting is a Ludwig. All of my drums with then be Ludwig. :D

I could easily get caught up in buying/selling drum stuff but I don't want to. I'm just completing/upgrading what I already have.

It is however cheaper than buying 911 parts.

Friend of mine turned his 2 car garage into a small studio slash guitar collection storage. It looks like a music store. He started by buying and selling a few guitars online. Says most of his living for the past several years has been from it as buys then sells a lot of guitars to Japanese buyers.

GH85Carrera 02-08-2017 01:11 PM

It is just kinda cool how many niche businesses are making a living doing something that others had never though of. Like Dave and his shift knobs or selling guitars to the Japanese.

One of the guys that worked here long ago had a business selling aerial cameras to the CIA for use on spy planes. He said one night his phone rang in the middle of the night. They said get dressed and be ready to go on a trip for a few days. They loaded him a airplane and the next thing he knew he was in a foreign country and they had the camera pulled out of the airplane. He showed the tech how to make a few adjustments and get everything back together. They loaded up the film and the aircraft was in the air soon afterwards. He knew better than asking where he was.

He also had a sideline business and bought surplus military aircraft parts. After a few years they would call up and order the part and he would mark it up 1000% and they never blinked.

Wasn't it Niche who said "Without Music, life would be a mistake." Maybe that's spelled Nietzsche.

Well off to make the 5 miles trek to the grocery store.
Since it's 4:30pm , it's a how long it takes and how long I have to wait in line high traffic grocery getting time test.

RKDinOKC 02-08-2017 02:54 PM

Welp, took an hour and 20 minutes. Usually takes an hour. Difference was travel time.
The Homeland has a lot more variety than the old one before it became a Cash Savers. BUT, the prices were higher.
$1.28 can of Bumble Bee Tuna Salad (tastes just like Mom used to make) is $1.88. It's $1.29 at Target across the street.
The dog food I get, Purina One Smartblend is about $4.00 a bag more as well.

Glen will be happy to know no lines at the checkout even though it was just after 5pm.

When I first started doing all the household shopping I found that some items cost more at one store, and others were more at another.
When I went thru my typical weekly shopping it turned out all the stores were within $2.00 for the weeks total.
Ended up always shopping at the store that had the best selection even though some people thought it was more expensive.
When that one closed just started shopping at the closest grocery.
The last of the 2 closest is closing the month.
Now all the grocery stores (5 of them) are 5 to 6 miles from my house in various directions.
Guess I need to go price check with my weekly list and see if they all average out.

Netflix Series - Santa Clarita Diet

Comedy-Horror, Weeds meets Walking Dead. Funny

Good morning all.

I have been watching a BBC TV series called Torchwood. It has a Dr. Who feel to it. It is very British and sometimes very hard to understand with some of the accents. The premise is they are a group that is "outside the government and above law enforcement" and they are seeking out and killing bad guy extraterrestrials. It is different to hear them use some profanity that would never be on American TV and they are VERY restrained in shooting bad guys. One scene the evil bad guy that had been killing people and eating them had killed most of the people of a small village captured some of the team and was choking one team member. The other team member shows up and only points a gun at the cannibal and says stop or I will shoot. On American TV they would have shot him for sure.

Right now I would give it a 3 out of a 5 rating. They do have some interesting plot lines.

Good Morning.

If a nymphomaniac becomes a prostitute, is she automatically considered a workaholic?

You should watch the Dr Who episodes that introduced Captain Jack Harkness for some background since Torchwood is a spinoff from those.

We are supposed to be about 85 on Saturday. Tomorrow is mid 70s. I am wearing shorts tomorrow!

Windows 10 is so weird on some things. It of course does automatic updates. It updated the video driver on one of the three video cards in the workstation computer. All of a sudden, all we saw was a mouse pointer on a black screen. Well isn't that special. The good news is I could unplug the monitor using the Quardo K4200 video card we need for the 3D imagery and run it on just one of the two GTX980 cards. To restart in safe mode the system really needs to be running, then you can re-start in safe mode. WTF?

The only other choice is to make a boot USB from another computer and then you can boot to the USB drive, get to safe mode and recover the system. Yea, that is so convenient. WTF were they thinking? Did they hire a iTunes software guy to set that up?

I will try to find that episode. I was a Dr. Who fan back in the 1980s when it was on the local PBS station here. They dropped it and I did not have anyway to keep watching. I figured it would be a confusing mess to figure out what is going on after a dozen different Dr. Whos and several decades. They need a intro to Dr. Who for newbies to get up to speed.

My wife is getting her masters and part of that is using technology in teaching/training so she decided to ask the facility where I work if they would be interested. They were interested because anything free is great. So, my wife sends out a survey for computer competency levels to the managers asking them to rank numerically with one being the least and so forth. Most did fine but one manager sent the survey back with check marks instead of ranking the items as clearly stated.
