Howdy Pete, traffic is the thing that folks in California think is is normal to go 5 MPH in bumper to bumper slow moving drives down a highway. I prefer or 75 MPH speed limit on the interstates and 80 on some turnpikes and only a few dozen vehicles in sight on the highways.
Of course Cali does have a really pretty coast line and beaches for the really rich to live along. Back in the days when I commuted I often drove the first three miles and did not see one single other car or truck. Now I have to go to the garage to see a car on my commute. The town of Seminole, OK got hit with a F1 tornado last night, twice! One came through when the sun was still up, and a second one about an hour later. The second one passed over some of the same areas hit the first time. It tore up mobile homes, and barns and took the roof off of several buildings in downtown Seminole. The entire town lost electricity. One greenhouse-nursery was really torn up by the tornado and they showed it live on the air, from a helicopter. |
Glen in San Diego there is 5 mph traffic weekday mornings and afternoons.
Then visitor traffic on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon on the 5 between LA and San Diego. Since I'm retired I choose not to drive during those hours. Now when it's not bumper to bumper the speed limit is 65 but in San Diego I rarely ever see a CHiP. Freeway is frequently 75 to 85/90 here too, you're just surrounded by other speeding aggressive drivers. Navy stationed me in NZY/Coronado in 1980 and I never left. :) |
Morning all. The rain returns..................

I just opened my junk mail folder. All spam and nothing of value, flush!
I was really amazed to see 15 different emails from companies wanting to give my company loans. All with a "low rate" but not free. I am so happy I had the foresight to pay another big hunk down on our airplane loan, and get them to do a fixed rate loan for the remainder of the loan. My goal is to never need a loan ever again, and I guess that will make my credit rating perfect. It is strange how my personal credit rating goes up and down a dozen or more points each month. I really can't care less, but it would be interesting to find out what makes it change just as a matter of trivia. |

He move to Oklahoma a bough a square mile of property that was all woods. He had a very nice house built to his wife's dreams in the middle of the square mile on a hill. Beside the winding road to his house, the rest is all left to nature and he calls it his nature reserve. He had a ton of high end camera gear, and spend his time taking nature photos from his back porch, and some photo blinds he has on the property. |
Morning all. Well the company out did itself last night rolling out a 9 week overtime bonus plan that just is dumb. The lowest tier is 45 hours of OT over the next 9 weeks. The bonus is less than half what my hourly rate is. Just pay me the straight time hours and then we can talk.

The rains have stopped and we have clear blue skies and no wind. We have a lot of flying and projects to do. One of them had a 5 page specifications for the projects, and we can't fly anything for them until two days of clear skies. The don't want puddles of water in the photos.
We may well have the busiest month ever. I great problem to have. I will likely be working many hours and my computer will be humping some data. That is why I built it. I think I will pull it out and go to the garage to blow out any dust today. It weighs a ton, and is really hard to carry. Normally I run it with a top vents closed, and the many fans on low. When I get it working, I open all the vents, and crank up the fans. It stays plenty cool. I thought about water cooling, but I am just a die hard air cooled guy. |
Glen the judge did what was good for the judge but that's not me. ;)
Happy here like yourself and moving is just not worth the time and energy at my age. I did have lunch with a buddy that is moving to SE Las Vegas for tax reasons. His car collection was as nice as his engine room. Funny to relate with the uber rich enjoying the same cars (just more of them) as me. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1651847647.jpg |
Yea, the judge bought an 70 El Camino SS and spent a LOT of money having a 500 HP LS engine, modern transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, custom interior and a show quality paint job. It was so nice he did not want to drive it much. He sold it at a loss because it was so specialized to be his dream car.

Morning all. Once again over the weekend while out walking our dog the wife was attacked by two german shepards. Owner had the gall to tell her that our dog was aggressive and maybe she shouldn't walk down their street. The lawyer informed them that since its a public street and she was standing in the middle of with her dog on a leash that a police report would be filed.
|
Sound serious and frightening, I hope your wife and dog were not injured.
Will she carry something to defend herself in the future? |
everyone is a tad bruised but no one got bit. Now that most of the rain is gone show might carry the hike-n-strike. Its a walking stick that has a 950k taser on it.

Golly aerial photography is fun. One of our clients has a large "campus" with lots of building. They way the photos at high resolution and a topographic information. They did not want to pay for us to hire a surveyor and put down targets to make it a survey, so it is just a pretty picture, with the lines of elevation showing to make it clear where the water flows. It is almost like working.
I was even working on it over the weekend! I may need a nap soon. |
Slacker. The beer might be hidden from you.
|
Windy as all get out again today and 82.
Traffic is when the farmer needs to get from one field to another and the highway is the only road they have to get there. Worse when some kid is on their phone and wont pass. I guess not many tractors in NE? |
My computer is working really hard, so that makes up for my slacking.
The CPU is churning. It has not used more than 70 GB of RAM so no big deal for RAM use. I should have bought a faster CPU. I need more POWER! Arf Arf Arf. |
I has to take our desktop to a family friend to figure out what is going on. New Dell and slower than all get out
|
When I built my system, the case I ordered has a ton of fans. There are two knobs that I can crank the fans up to BLOW! mode. The CPU and power supply fans automatically run faster when it gets hot inside the case.
There is a slider that I can slide to open the vents on the top of the computer to blow air out of. The good news is the computer stays cool, but my office is getting hot, so it is 80 in here. The ceiling fan is running, and the house AC is running so it is not hot in my shorts and t-shirt. |
Dang Adobe, and Photoshop.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652125991.jpg I am working on a not very large file for our clients. It is a Tiff file with LZW compression I cropped out of the overall area flight area. It is just over 4 GB with the compression. I did one quick edit of a reflection off of a pond to get rid of the reflection. Try to save, nope, Photoshop refuses as it it too big for the format according to Photoshop. My mapping programs pay with 4 GB tiff files like toys, and I have produced 15 GB tif files with no issues. So now I "get" to cut the image in pieces, to be recombined later from a mapping program. Grrrrrrrr. If Adobe would just put a button on the save as tab that said "Save it damn it", I don't care is someone using old versions can't open my files. I would be happier. |
Speaking of photoshop if I sent you a picture of my 911 can you change its color to pink?
The story behind that is a friend passed away a few weeks ago and after seeing my blue 911 he called it baby blue. I told him no it is 030 light blue metalic. From then on he called pink. It was always how's the pink Porsche Dave? |
