Good Luck on the sale Richard.

Golly I had fun. Sweeping out the garage and general cleanup sure is fun. I simply don't allow a lot of crap to be stored in the garage. Some re-arranging of the shelf and a few dustpans of leaves. You might have heard the parts of the lyrics:

"Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain"

And it blows all the leaves in the neighborhood right into my garage. Well maybe not all of them but lots of them.

I did break out the vacuum cleaner to clean the several carpet mats that I have in the garage. I even broke my push broom. I had to replace the original handle that stripped out years ago. I replaced it with a handle with a cast aluminum screw end to hold into the broom head. The casting broke. I am attempting to fix it with JB weld. If that fails it is time for a new push broom.

The weather was spectacular today. It was just too nice to not play in the garage.

Oh yea, Mrs Carrera was gone this afternoon so the garage clean-out was all my labor. She had to keep repeating to herself "I have to work today" to remember to go to the phone banks. She is required to "volunteer" at the hot line for he Master Gardner degree. She left right after 12 and will not get home until 4:45 or so. It was a long hard work week for her. ;)

hey a map of Washington!!!!!!

GH85Carrera 02-17-2017 01:36 PM

Jim, send it this way!

I really really really enjoyed the wonderful weather today. It was 72 and clear skies and no real wind. That rain storm from California is supposed to get here Sunday. We are ready.

I have an ancient laptop from work that is from the 1990s. It is pitiful slow. I put a SSD HD in it and that helps. All I do is use it in the garage to listen o Pandora. Just Pandora. It is too painfully slow to use for anything else. It has gotten to the point it will not run Pandora. I will fight with it some this afternoon and see if I can get it to run Pandora. If not, I will look for another super cheap way to listen to Pandora. I may use one on my old iPhones. I think I still have a iPhone 4 and I know I still have the iPhone original.

Currently 53 degrees and sunny. I should be out driving but no I'm stuck in the office for another hour.

Well they guy went to his credit union and got them to expedite sending the wire tranfer. However, they didn't actually attempt it until 4:03 Central Time. That is 3 minutes past when my credit union accepts wire transfers. Told him had to have the monies in my bank before I could bring myself to watch it leave, either under it's own power or on a truck. We are back to it disappearing on Tuesday, stupid Presidents that think they have to have their own holiday.

Porsche-poor 02-17-2017 02:01 PM

yeah but just think of all the dead presidents piling up in the credit union on Tuesday

I Heaven there is no beer.
That is why we drink it here.
And when we're gone from here.

Morning all. We have a PCA breakfast again today. This time close to home. Just 4 miles away. Last month was a 40 mile round trip and next month is a 30 mile round trip.

Oh Haha 02-18-2017 05:27 AM

Great news Richard!!

RKDinOKC 02-18-2017 06:54 AM

Sounds good so far, but ain't getting excited until 1.) the cash is in the bank AND 2.) the Cayenne S is no longer my responsibility and out of sight on the truck.
But do I have another person that contacted me yesterday evening and asked all the right questions. Told her it was waiting to see if the money transfers Tuesday. If it does not the car will be available.

Oh and when I woke up this morning it was to the guitar loop of the cable box in bandwidth saver mode.

GH85Carrera 02-18-2017 02:10 PM

Good food and friends at the PCA breakfast.

When we got home Mrs Carrera asked if I loved her enough to haul her to Norman for some more pet fish. Oh Joy, 70 miles round trip mostly on I-35 what could be more fun? About 10 miles from home the fan was not blowing at all or not right. It was a lovely day again for the weather.

When we got home I started diagnosing the problem. I had to replace the fan motor once before because it is on 99.9% of the time I am driving the car. I almost never roll the windows down. The Elky has plenty of wind noise with the windows up, I don't need more with the windows down.

I pulled the fan motor for the AC & heat in 5 minutes (try that on your car!) and it ran OK but it was real hard to turn by hand. I already had a new replacement on my shelf. The new fan spun easily and no doubt the fan was pulling just too many amps. I figured the fan relay might be be cooked so I pulled it and the connectors were partly melted. It had been struggling with the load.

I just happen to have one of those as well. After owning a car for 26 years and over 310K miles I have some spare parts ready to go. The fans seem to last 170K or so. I will start looking for a new fan and relay to have on hand. Parts are getting tougher to find. It is good to have a new one ready to go. The fan switch is tired so I will get two of those. I had to spray my current switch with Deoxit to get it working right.

All is well with the heat and air again. I have the entire brand new GM "Head Unit" which is the part that runs the heat and AC. It is new old stock GM original in the box. I got it from a GM dealer in 2006. If mine ever quits, I am ready.

Oh Haha 02-18-2017 05:18 PM

Did you go "Office Space" on your cable box Richard?

I finished up the lady's garage today. I came home with a bunch of stuff for MINE, though. A really cool hobby workbench thing with a grinder and a handheld Dremel style tool, a pair of bolt cutters, a multitool device that's like a small circular saw and a almost new Dremel tool with all the bits. Lots of little grinding wheels and various bent pliers as well. Apparently, when they couldn't find a tool they would just go buy another.

It was almost 60 degrees today so I washed both of our cars and waxed the Malibu.

I'm whooped.

Decided would forget about the cable today. Went and had lunch with friend from Austin that has been helping take care of his Mom after a bad reaction to meds after knee surgery. Guess what we did...

Went an bought his Mom a new TV and "tried" to hook it up to her old cox cable box. It was the cheapest 50" TV they had. He refused to to understand the cable box she had was to old, it used component video and the HDMI port did not support current TVs. Cable guy is coming out Monday, bet he gives her a new box.

Really teased my friend. We passed a cox solutions store where they would have replaced her old style (not digital) cable box free on one of the 3 trips going back and forth to best buy. Asked about it every trip as it was obvious it was an old cable box.

Friend is going back to Austin tomorrow. His Mom asked if it was okay to call me Monday when the cable guy came out. I am assuming I am going to have to go over and try to make that cheap TV with very limited inputs work with the rest of her stuff. He ignored the fact she had a DVD and VCR. May end up having to take the TV back and get one with the correct number of inputs of the right types.
