Good Morning!
At least it's not quite so cold this morning, 28°F, and is supposed to get up to 50°F There is a new local restaurant called The Chili Pepper I might have to try out. They have the regular Mexican fare plus chili, burgers, and kicked up fries. Looks like they are mostly into green chilis and not jalapeņos. Glen, wanna do a makeup day for Tuesday? Got my retirement statement email this morning. 9 years before retirement at 67. Estimate for my SSI and 401K for 10 years after retirement will get 125% of my current income. The kicker...after the mini-stroke there is only 40% chance I will make it to 67. Got enough in my 401K can retire today and maintain my current income for 9 years. Looks like after I talk to my Doc tomorrow I will be re-evaluating my future plans. The talk with Docs about my foot didn't come out too well. |
Morning all.
Over the hump and on the downhill slide toward the weekend. I have all the "small" tiles done, (200 MB each) and now I am making the big mama-looka mosaic. It has to be in a Jpeg2000 format. The Tiff files and Jpeg files all cap out in size limits so the JPEG2000 works great. Each of the individual tiles have a "world file" that matches the tiff file. The world file specifies precisely where the file belongs to mapping software. I can open all 962 of the tiles, and they lay out one next to the other in a grid and make one big image. You can then zoom in to any one image and do whatever measurements needed, and only need the one file open so things are zippy fast. There is a "shape file" that tells a client where each tile will open on a map. It is really kinda cool. The coolest part is the 3D viewing we can generate from the images. The tile images I am working are just ortho-photos and they are looking straight down and all the buildings and structures are standing straight up. You can't see the sides of the buildings at all. The client provided targets on the ground and had a surveyor give us the XY&Z location of each target. Then we can tie our project to the targets and the surveyor or the client can go to any point in the image and get a spatial position. They will ground check it and it will be within the National Map Accuracy standards. |
Morning all. Fun night around here. Some fool took out a power pole that knocked out a stop light. Took an hour to get home cause the light is on a major 5 lane hwy that now had to be treated like a 4 way stop. Like that's going to work. We back out at 8pm, light still out now no one on the 5 lane is stopping so getting out was really fun.
Richard I hope things improve and you can have a long retirement. |
At least nothing has fallen off yet Richard!
Glen, you have too much fun at work unlike the rest of us. In regards to the tinfoil reception thing. I know people that would show just the off the air test pattern regardless of the quality of reception. |

Every word was the 100% truth!
No exaggeration! Just the facts. |
So, if I only gots 10 years, should I refinance my house for as much $$$ as I can get on one of those ARM loans that is low interest for 10 years then re-adjusts for a bunch more interest?

Since I haven't rearranged since everyone left my office is at the foot of my bed in the master bedroom. That is like a 3 step commute.

When we bought our house in CA we knew we would be moving in 3-6 years so we got an ARM that started at 1.89% and could gain 1% per year after 3 years at 1.89%. A fixed rate was close to 4% at the time so it was a no brainer for a short loan. |
Today I have to make a trek through a bunch of traffic down I-35 to deliver the images I just finished up. It is just 1/2 the project but they are in a hurry.
It was typical, they waited and waited and had meetings and thought about it forever, then they gave us the go and suddenly it is hair on fire, hurry hurry can we have it instantly? We had our 4 computers linkup churning on the project for 3 weeks straight, non stop just to make this part of the project. Then I had to do my part and now I get to go play delivery boy for the mean boss. I am taking his car for the trip. |
Be nice to the car the boss could make you walk next time.
|
Naa, he will just make me fix it. I have to do all the yard work and car maintenance around here. I don't get a penny for any of that. I bet I have to wash the bosses wife's car this weekend. It is supposed to be in the 60s and I may well have to wash the El Camino.
|
Don't over do it he will start to expect extras
|
Supposed to be in the 40s this weekend here. :)
And freezing rain. :( |
Just got back from the Chili Pepper Cafe. It was good, but really slow, as in took us an hour and a half from picking my brother up to dropping him off and the place is 5 miles away. I will say the staff was very eager to please, they just need to speed up the kitchen.
