The meeting was cancelled right AFTER I walked in the door.
However, spent 30 minutes chatting with the new VP of IT. Have been asking for Office356 training since I only have Exchange on-premises training and certification. Said I am doing great as 365 admin and wants me to be the goto guy/admin for SharePoint and One Drive in 365. Wants to move all company data to it to consolidate access and get rid of our local servers. Will also be implementing the back end of the data stream so when HR enters and new employee they are added across the entire system. I do that now, but with import/export because the previous IT manager did not want to connect AD to anything outside of the company. He also wants me to implement template and workflows that will eliminate most of the current paperwork making everything on-line and easier to both do and manage. He likes my creativity in making things work without utilizing custom programming. And it will be closely integrated with Sharepoint. Was getting bit concerned because the network and server managers were talking about projects that involved Office365 and I wasn't being included. They have also tired implementing a couple of things in Office365 without me and screwed things up that I fixed. Now the VP said he wanted to talk to me before I was included because he wants me to manage the Office365 side. Doesn't sound like he plans on letting me go anytime soon. |
Anybody want an original iPad mini 64gb cellular, $50?
Thought I would offer it here before hitting craigslist for $75. |
No me. I have an original iPad in the garage hooked to computer speakers to play Pandora and the third gen iPad in my office that I rarely use. I have to real computers in my office that I use a lot.
|
That's just the thing. When I was laid up with my foot I got it to keep me entertained. It did that, but now that my foot is better I just doin't have a use for it.
Have flung all the angry birds, gone thru all the levels on the pinball games, and solved all the puzzles I can stand, so am done with it. Unless something changes I just don't have a use for an iPad. |
I have not yet played a single game on my phone or iPad. I have no plans to start one.
I have not played a game on a computer since I upgraded from my Commodore 64 to my first PC back in the DOS 2.1 days. Mrs. Carrera has rarely if ever gone a day without playing several games on her iPad. |
I admit it, I've been to gamer nights held in the back rooms of game stores. Even though there were some that played dungeons and dragons type games there were all kinds of games. Card games, board games, played with dice, cards, little figures, everything except computer games. Visited a guy's house that his two car garage was full of row after row of shelves full of games. None of them computer games.
When I visit a friend in Austin he always takes me to a game night. Think he's in some kind of gamer's guild. Has been ever since I met him back in the 80's. We met buying Apple II computers the same day at the same store and then all the computer club and hacker GTG's that followed. Been good friends since. |
Just went to see 12 Strong. It was very good. Not Blackhawk Down good, but very good. I think it's also the first mainstream portrayal of a non aviation warrant officer.
Gotta go pick up some 3.5mm vacuum hose in the morning so I can swap out the MAP sensor on the ML. I'm hoping to find a used, good code reader local as well. I want better than the AutoZone specials, but don't want to fork over the $400+ for a low end Snap On new. |
Got one for the Cayenne called Durametric. It talks to all the Porsche computers. It's under $300 if you have less than 4 cars. Basically it's just PC software and a cable like the Porsche factory diagnostic tool.
For the 928 got a SharkTuner. It comes with programmable chips for the 2 ECUs and works thru the diagnostic port. Also uses a wideband O2 sensor and lets you do custom tuning. You can drive around and it records what is going on, then you can use that data to automatically tweak all the maps or manually tweak them yourself. Can also put a switch in that uses a different set of maps like if you wanted to run racing fuel. A lot of guys just make it a valet mode that limits the revs. |
Yea, I will likely be buying the Durametric version eventually. On the Macan it has to have a code set to tell the car you did the oil change. I never needed that on my cars before but them new fangled computer controlled cars insist on it. It will be a while before I need it. The Macan just has 4,500 miles and we have a one free oil change at the dealer. They charge $250 for changing the oil!
I figure I have changed the oil on my El Camino well over 100 times. That would be over 25 grand at the dealer rate! ;) |
The Cayenne has two oil drain plugs and are supposed to be replaced when changing the oil. Don't know if they have a seal rings that is supposed to be replaced as well, but assume so.
That is probably what makes it so expensive at the dealer. How about draining an refilling the coolant on the newer water cooled cars. You have to raise and lower the front and rear of the car a specific amount to drain it. Have no idea what needs to be done to get all the air out refilling it. |
Morning all. Back to work, more fun after no fun.
|
Do bras have cup sizes because boobs have milk?
|
Does more fun after no fun mean you got plans to have fun after work?
|
The Macan has two plugs as well, and they have o-rings. The oil filter is a cute little think in a VW branded box. At the Lemans watch party the dealer hosted they had a Jeopardy type game. I won one answer on the bottom row that was supposed to be hard. That was a free oil change. Then they had a drawing and asked who had owned their Porsche the longest. I won that and it was a gift certificate to the parts department. I got two oil filters and 4 drain plugs. I was nice and gave them to Mrs Carrera and she "let" me put them in the garage to store for her for me to use in the future for an oil change. At the rate she is driving that should be in 2021 before I need a new oil change setup.

It has been interesting in the recent week of driving. My business partner is a mile away, the business's bank is 4 blocks away and the Braum's is next door to the bank. Beer supply is 3 blocks away. I have a stereo in my El Camino that plays my entire collection of MP3 music at random.
In recent days the song "Space Trucking" from the "easy listing" live performance album "Made in Japan" by Deep Purple has been playing. It is a 19 minute 50 second song. It has been almost comical how many trips I have made and the same song just keep playing. Several round trips to my business partner's house and other short trips, same song. Off to the bank, same song. Beer run, same song. Finally today I went 4 miles each way to get my hair cut and I got to the end of the song. I have always thought it was funny that with several minutes left to go in the song they have a pause in the music and the audience starts applauding, then the music starts up again in full force. When the song is finally over there is a LONG silence before the first applause that grows slowly into full applause. I have to admit it would be really hard to dance to the song. |
