I think code for new houses is the run the HIVAC vents above grade. Too many houses had the vents in the slab floor get moisture and fill wit mold, or even water. Then they have to be filled and capped and the vents moved to the ceiling. I don't know that is a fact, but one AC guy I talked to said it was.

Out house is 24 years old. This room was designed as bedroom. It would be the worst bedroom in the place since it is small with a fairly small closet, and no return and poor HIVAC. I guess it was just small enough they decided to save 10 bucks and not put in a return in this room. I don't know.

THe house have some unusual features and is a custom home. The enormous closet in the master bedroom, and the bathroom that is part of the HIVAC in the garage. The oversize 3 car garage with a workbench area was what sold me on the house. The soffits around the house have an electrical plug every 20 feet. We customized it a lot more in the last 20 years.

We both agreed this was our last move and with everything paid for, we are not planning on leaving.

Morning all. off to the salt mines, no beer or flying for me.

RKDinOKC 05-31-2018 06:09 AM

My next door neighbor moved all her ducting to the attic. It wasn't because of mold. It was because the guy that did it showed her gravel in the bottom of the plenum. Told her it had rusted out. All the plenums in this neighborhood are open bottomed with the bottom sand and gravel!

When I moved here the vent in that same front bedroom would fill with water on a heavy rain. Water was standing just outside that room. I re-landscaped the yard so the water would drain away from the house and no more problem. Had it checked for mold and there was none. Vents are now bone dry.

I feel your pain, though I am not really a fan of beer but it is better than work.

It was sunny with thunderstorms here yesterday. Sunny and humid today.

We have Plum Curculio and have to spray to get rid of the rotten things.

Also ordered a different bark collar for the bagel since his old one doesn't work well any longer. The new one is citronella and he hates getting spritzed with anything. At least it won't leave marks on his neck. The lab never barks unless she is playing with us or uses her super bark as a warning for other animals or people she feels shouldn't be at the house.

RKDinOKC 05-31-2018 09:12 AM

When I used to go in to the office they put some kind of plum odor mask spritzing thing the the bathroom. Oh man, that was worse. Not just nasty poop and pee odor, but sweet smelling poop and pee. Made me want to add the odor of barf involuntarily.

Pepper doesn't really have what I would call a barking problem
Does the warning and somebody at the door thing, but only occasionally barks across the fence at the neighbor dogs. Gotten to where I can yell Hush while still in my office and she will stop even though she is outside. If she doesn't she gets to come inside.

With is so hot she only goes out to do her stuff, does it, and barks to be let back in. I give her a treat when she does that.

The beagle barks at the grass, the dirt, the wind, the trees, the ground squirrels, the bugs, the birds, the world in general. Beagles bark, but he barks an order of magnitude more than other beagles. The only thing he hasn't barked at is the bald eagles when the sit in our trees. He hides from them. Maybe I need to adopt an eagle.

RKDinOKC 05-31-2018 11:05 AM

Brother had a beagle puppy for about 2 weeks. His wife would not put up with all the stuff that puppy tore up.

She still thinks I am disgusting because my goldens have been allowed to live in the house.

Whooo whee. I get to travel to some exotic destinations!

This is Chandler international airport. It makes Chicago airport look like something from the future. The TSA line is extremely short.

GH85Carrera 05-31-2018 12:19 PM

For the really exotic stops try this place.

You will not find it on the Michelin’s fine dining list. It is right on Route 66 however. My wife would have never used the the one hole bathroom. I was not real happy and I was standing up.

Porsche-poor 05-31-2018 12:28 PM

There is a spot on the sun roof. Better get the boss to loan you some water to wash it off.

flipper35 05-31-2018 01:18 PM

You would think if the boss is nice enough to let you use his 911 you would at least keep it clean.

Yea, the 911 took a bug hit from the world's juiciest bug. It was a HUGE splat. I will be doing a complete wash for using the 911.

It was a long tiring day. I got to my business partners house at 9:00 and we drove up to Tulsa. The El Camino does OK on road trips but at the 75 MPH legal speed limit on the turnpike it is at the upper edge of easy cruising. The 911 thinks 75 is an easy day. So off we went. We went to the Tulsa company that leases our other 172 to pick up a second 172. It was supposed to be ready to go. It was only delayed a short while and then we had the (insert long string of profanity of your choice) delay for the insurance. The underwriter was taking their sweet time. That finally got resolved and my partner flew off towards home, but wait there is a twist!

We had a project to fly with the thermal camera. It requires a camera operator and I was the operator. But my car is in Tulsa. So we met up in the megalopolis of Chandler, OK. He picked me up, we flew the project in that area, he landed and let me out, and we headed for the airport. He was a bit faster since he had a direct route and I had speed limits. I picked him up and the airplane is here and so are we.

Tomorrow is the first day of SmartHours this summer and it's gonna be hot so they charging 21˘ a kWh from 2pm to 7pm. Only 5˘ a kWh the other 19 hours.

It is considered a high usage day.
Low usage day is 5˘/kWh
Standard usage day is 10˘/kWh
High usage day is 21˘/kWh
Critical Usage day is 41˘/kWh

Not sure what the temperature break is to make it a critical usage day, it is supposed to get to 99°F Today.

Will have to get on-line and look at my lectricity usage. The keep hourly usage and the costs based on the rates for that day. Be interesting to compare last couple of days at standard rates with highs in the 90s and today with the SmartHours prices and a high of 99. Even better Sat and Sun with 5˘ all day.

When I signed up for the SmartHours thing they replaced my thermostat with one that receives the usage signal. If the usage is above standard it starts pre-cooling the house at 11am 4° lower than my set point. At 2pm it doesn't turn on the AC until either 7pm or if the temp gets to 4° above my normal setpoint.

They were also supposed to give me 10 LED bulbs that are 4w and put out 60w equivalent light. They replaced all my standard light bulbs and were one short so they gave me another box of 10. So I got a bunch a bulbs whenever they actual burn out.

They also gave me a terminal strip that has that think where one plug in controls a bunch of others on the strip, ie, you turn off your TV and it will shut of everything else plugged in. They gave me two of those instead of just one. Ended up not actual using it for my TV because the AppleTV turns off my TV and Stereo when I put it to sleep and back on when I wake it up.

They also told me I could lower my energy costs by 46% by adding insulation to the attic and replacing my windows. That would save me about $50 a month. Checked and doing both of those is about $8,000. Thats a little over 13 years before pays for itself.

GH85Carrera 06-01-2018 05:08 AM

Morning all.

I ordered the LED light kit for my 911 tail lights. They came in yesterday so this weekend those get installed. THere is a guy on Pelican that 3D prints the brackets, and sells an entire plug and play upgrade kit. It even comes with a new relay for the turn signals to work right. It can all be removed and put back to OEM if someone wanted to for whatever reason. I am also going to try to figure out where to slip in a 3rd brake light that is LED total aftermarket. It is supposed to go next to the headliner at the top of the rear window.

With so many distracted drivers on the road now days I figure it has to help a little to be more visible.

RKDinOKC 06-01-2018 05:55 AM

There is a 928 guy in Dallas that replaced his 3rd brake light with red LEDs about every half inche across the top of his rear hatch window.

flipper35 06-01-2018 05:59 AM

You could always do the orange/red flag like the buggies at Glamis. The car is so low I don't know if they would see that third brake light anyway. I would have to put one in the roll bar in the Cobra.

Morning all. Forgot my lunch today so its either out or suffer. I vote out.

GH85Carrera 06-01-2018 07:09 AM

Last night when I finally got home from all the fun of driving to three different exotic airports it was already after 6:00 PM. I threw my dinner in the microwave, and got the first part of the data processing started. My wife actually said, don't forget your dinner in the microwave! Yea, right. I was hunger and smelling it, but I needed to get step one going so I could eat while it was running.

My computer did not finish the last step until sometime this morning after 2:00 AM. I got up early and finished it all up and uploaded to the client and they were happy. Almost 7 GIG of data was uploaded to their site.

Porsche-poor 06-01-2018 07:11 AM

I am up to about 4.5 gigs in over 2000 files of scanning in the folks old photos. I'm thinking jump drives to give it to the relatives at this point.
