Our first yellow lab had cancer on her spleen when she was 3 or 4. She lived a pretty normal life after surgery but got a different cancer when she was 12. The tumor was the size of a Nerf football.

Sorry about Jack, It just is not right that dogs live so short of a life.
I always said it I got rear ended in my 914 it was going to be turned into a little pickup. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534532633.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534532633.jpg Fortunately I never got hit while I was driving. It got each of the four fenders smashed by bad drivers in parking lots. Totally different parts of town, always parked in "good" spots. |
It is not too comfy outside of my little atmospherically controlled environmental enclosure.

The guy picked up the GTS. Texted me after having it 1 hour. Said whomever had done the tune had no idea what they were doing. Already has the idle hunting stopped and running smoother in general. Said is glad I called him, really enjoys making something running like crap and tweaking it to run really good.

It sounds like your GTS is on the road to recovery. SmileWavy

The latest lux runes provides you the great scenarios of the game.

Bet it ends up like most of my other cars. Once I get everything fixed, someone drives off in it. At least I hope $$$$

The Porsche dealership is having their “Motors in the Morning” car show in a few minutes. It is a whole two miles to get there. Free coffee and doughnuts. Typical Porsche lineup. Sometimes free stuff.
|
Wow, Brian texting to let me know the GTS tuning is going great really took a load of stress off. Just woke up after sleeping for 12 hours straight.
|
Holey cat buckets. GTS runs and drives better actually tuned. Now it will spin the tires all the way thru first and second when I try to do my typical autocross start (which never used to spin the tires). It also sounds better, less raspy.

The new fuel pump works. The old girl kicked over in no time - real strong signal off the flywheel sensors, although the lifters banged like an old piano till they filled with oil. Draining 40 litres of old fuel was a 5hit job! Now for rollers and belts. :)
|
Yous guys don't have Stabil to pour in the tank while the gas is still fresh out the pump?

Ya know, if ya drive it regularly, or at least weekly, you will not have those issues. :) Glad the 928 is running right finally Richard. Finding someone that really WANTS to figure it out and do it right helps a ton. I have used them for some simple tasks over the years when I just did not have the time. Never for something complex. That is one simple reason I have a 30+ year old basic car(s) that I can easily work on. |
Yeah we do. I didn't intend to leave the old girl sit for so long. She's now getting some well overdue tlc.

Hope its all okay david. |
Yeah, the mech that worked on 928s at their shop retired about the time I picked up the GTS. But Bob was still there for a short time.
The local tuner guy is not doing it as a business. Did it as a favor, the 928 group is really a bunch of nice guys. He currently has 4 928s, and has had 6. He got a Sharktuner for the supercharged 90GT he picked up. Then got more PEMs to be able to tune the rest of his cars as well. The Sharktuner consists of PEMs or programmable chips you replace the factory chips with and a box that interfaces between the chips and software you run on your computer using the ODB port. You add a wideband o2 sensor for AFR. Then you plug in the laptop to the ODB and wideband and it records everything, and/or allows you to upload and download the maps to the ECU chips. Pretty cool for a vehicle that does not have ODBII. To make changes you download the maps. There is a graphics program that you can display the maps overlayed with recorded data so you can visually see what is going on. You make the changes to the data file, then upload it to the chips. The program can analyze the recorded data and automatically update the maps. but I don't know of anyone that uses that feature. There are sevaral maps for both fuel and timing for different loads etc. There is even a plug under the dash that lets you change to different mapsets on for different octanes. Some of the guys use that to create a vallet mode that limits rpm. One of the problems I've had is with the o2 sensor. When you install the wideband it has a simulated narrowband output you can wire to the ECU instead of the stock narrowband. All of the 928 tuners say to NOT use the widebands simulate narrowband, to leave the stock o2 in and ADD the wideband for tuning. Say if you don't you end up having problems tuning because there is a lag in the widebands simulated narrowband output. The guy got my GTS running well quickly by disableing the chips trying to read the narrowband. Said it was also set for the wrong size of injectors. Since it is not reading an o2 sensor is not really optimal, but works okay and will not hurt the car. Am going to have to have another o2 port added to the x-pipe and install a factory narrowband to feed the ECU. Using the wideband o2 just for tuning. Also it still has the factory fuel injectors, 18lb. Tuning for the hotter cams, headers, and x-pipe maxes them out when under load, full throttle, and higher rpms. They said it is okay, but really needs to go to 24lb to be safe and have the injectors last. The guy that sells the Sharktuner is selling me some Ford injectors cheap he is having rebuilt by Witchunter. They are a newer injector design, plug right in with no modifications, and have a better spray pattern. When I very first got the Sharktuner was when I put an x-pipe on. Mike had a horrible time tuning it. He kept blaming the sharktuner. I kept telling him it needs a narrowband o2 for the ecu and bigger injectors. That is what all the good 928 mechs were telling me. Mike never did either. |
Hey it is back to Monday morning.
Wake up! |
I'm up, I'm up.
Did not personally have a very productive weekend. But did finally get the GTS tuned. Sheesh, 6 months of it running like crap and them putting me off. Looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day so can take pictures and send them to a prospective buyer. |
nothing is going right, now I can't find the charger for my camera batteries.
|
It’s a lovely morning here. Overcast skies are keeping the temperature down, currently in the low 70s. I’ll be working in the garage again on the Z. :)
Richard, I’m glad to hear that your 928 is finally running well. Once you sell it, do you have plans to replace it? |
