Called the garage about the A/C on the Cayenne Turbo. I talked to the mechanic the day before the 4th, he forgot to tell the service manager that was gone for the 4th that I had said to go ahead and replace the system. Ouch. She said they do have all the parts and apologized for not calling. Guess they are becoming one of those shops you have to babysit your car like when my Dad used to have work done when I was a kid. I do have 320 hours of vacation to burn.

At least the AC works on the GTS.

Oh great. At the office they changed the company managing all of the 300 printers. We had three different companies depending on the printer. They changed because they new company is a lot cheaper. Part of the deal is they are replacing all of the printers with their printers. They started replacing printers this week and it is causing all sorts pf havoc with people not being able to print. Getting a LOT of help tickets with "Got a new printer in our area and can't print to it."

But just think, some printer company owner that goes to the right church gets a nice fat contract with them.

Yea, I will admit my El Camino had to sit and idle for a few minutes and the temp probe is up on the front bumper close to the fan for the radiator. Sitting at idle the air will crank the temp up pretty fast. Once I get moving it drops to a more realistic number.

The AC was blowing 40 degree air and the engine temp was at 215. Not bad for a 31 year old G body GM car. Long ago when it was a 41,000 mile car, still 100% stock we drove over to a relatives house. It was a hot day and the hot engine light would flicker on and off. It had no gauges back then except a fuel gauge. And it still had the stock 2 core radiator, and a wimpy water pump. With the three core radiator and the extreme duty water pump it does just much better.

Drove my parents to GA in their new 1981 Chrysler LeBaron wagon.

Going over the mountains in Tennessee in the middle of the night i had to turn on the AC, and let it blow cold. then put the heater on full hot and roll down the windows. Then cycle the AC on cold til it blew cold and turn it back to heat. I used the heater/ac to cool the engine better.

That piece of junk would overheat on a 90° day. And that was with the coldest thermostat you could fit in it.

Well, it's only really 110 according to my phone. If that is real, I think that ties the all time hottest temperature ever in OKC. Tonight a "cold" front comes through and we are only getting to the low to mid 90s.

It is supposed to get down to 72° tonight. Woke up, it' 3:30am and it's still 90° outside.

Remember sleepless nights this warm as a kid and no A/C. Only had fans. We had a big attic fan in the hallway and each bedroom had one of those oscillating fans. Remember laying there in only pajama shorts (thinner than underwear) miserable and soaking wet in a pool sweat with that fan blowing on me.

Dad installed the attic fan. Don't remember ever using that attic fan once we got central air.

The house was built in 1960. We bought it new and it had a crawl space foundation. We had to put vent covers on in the fall to keep the pipes from freezing. Took them off in the spring. Still covered and uncovered the vents after getting central A/C, but did carpet all the wood flooring except for the kitchen and bathroom which had linoleum.

Dad tried replacement windows, but it ended up being a fiasco. They leaked. The solution was drilling holes in the bottom of the casements to let the water out. It worked for that but it also let air and bugs in.

Guess due to the storm window fiasco we never did anything else. The attic insulation you could cleary see and walk on all the joists. We did replace the front and back doors with metal doors that looked like painted wood with metal casements and long lag bolts. Think it was more for security than energy. There were several houses in the neighborhood that had gotten broken into by them kicking in the front or back door. Not that we ever had anything worth stealing besides my stereo system.

This morning I will be heading off to "Motors in the morning" again at the dealership. Free coffee and donuts, and usually some interesting cars and people to talk to.

It is just two miles from my house, so an easy drive.

Just back from a morning sail. Nice wind, but the waves were a bit choppy. We came back just as the yacht clubbers were heading out for a race. I think it’s gonna be hot this afternoon. Perfect for working in the garage on the Z. :rolleyes:h

4PM and its 98°. Forecast is to climb on more degree. The feels like is 106°.

Most I'm gonna do outside today is sit in the shade just long enough to grill a steak.
