Tonight in just minutes I head off to a social event to actually talk some of the other folks. Our camera manufacturer is here as well. Talking to the core employees of other mapping pros is totally cool. GIANT companies doing what we do only we are not YET giant! Gotta go PARTY! :D:D |
Shop called said they would have had the 928GTS done today, but the throwout bearing didn't get there till almost 4pm. Did a clutch job, including new updated throwout bearing just 2000 miles ago at a shop in Austin while on vacation. Must be all that new power it's making now. And that's short shifting at 4K!

Back from the party-social meeting. Good connections and face to face time.
Free food and beer was a bonus. Off to bed and get ready for the last day. |
Back up and at em. All packed and I have everything ready to go. The hotel next door to the office complex has an airport shuttle so I will get to the airport with them. Last 1/2 day of gettin edgeumacated then back home.
|
morning all. Light day at work then the weekend!!!!!
|
This is my busy Friday. Every other week they on-board new employees. The Friday before on-boarding I get to create all the user accounts and permissions for all the new employees so they can be trained starting Monday.
But do get to take my brother to lunch for his birthday AND pick up the 928GTS. Busy ike a Bee today. Hope I don't have sex with the queen. Understand the bee's balls explode. |
sounds painful. Take a cold shower instead.

Ugh. I hate Adobe products some days. Update a file and save it and it corrupts the stupid thing and took our intranet down. Then it wouldn't save it at all. Had to open the file in notepad to fix it, then reboot to get back in to Dreamweaver where it could work again. I love ColdFusion for what you can do with it, but they were bought by Adobe, not originally developed by them.
Anyway, good Friday morning. I get to clear the driveway after work today. Whoo, hooo. David, are you finally getting caught up as a company on stuff? Glen, hope your return goes better. |
Brent. Nope as soon as we finish one project they have another one for us to work on.

Oh, I hooked up the wifi scanner on the OBD port on the truck. The temp holds steady at 180* so I guess I get to swap out a thermostat to a 195* one.
|
Thought the only thing Adobe actually ever wrote themselves was Postscript.
Everything else they purchased and hacked after printer companies started coming out with Postscript emulators. The worst hack was Aldus Freehand. Illustrator is much more difficult to create art with. Anymore I create stuff with paths in Photoslop. |
I still like PS version 7. I have the new CS at work. Dreamweaver used to be a great product for developing in ColdFusion, but it has become horribly bloated.
David, you said light day I thought maybe you were getting caught up. |
Stopped upgrading my Adobe Suite at CS5. My PS is !2 and DW 11. After I quit either one it thinks it has unexpectedly quit so I have an extra window to click "ignore" when I quit on of them.
Dang. Took 4 hours to go to lunch and pick up my car. Relying on someone else to drop me off took about as much time has having someone take me for groceries. Was nice drivin the 928 home on a warm, pretty day with the window down listening to the bwaaaaah, bwaaaah, gurgle gurgle gurgle, bwaaaah.. |
I'd say an extra gurgle and you have tuning problems...............
|
Yep, it it NOT tuned well. He says it needs some miles on it to settle in. I think I am going to have to take it to Dallas to get a good tune on a 928 with a Shark Tuner. Local mechanic is relying on the auto tune feater too much. Dallas guy tells me the way it idles and sounds it has a small air leak.
Had a Mustang GT pull up beside me and pace me on the way home. Pushed in the clutch and reved it a couple of times. The Mustang backed way off and stayed about 10 car length behind even though his lane was open for about 10 car lengths ahead. It does sound healthy revving. When I had the 944 Turbos the Mustangs and Firebirds and Camaros wanted to race me. With the 928s they act like they want to race until they hear that V8 roar when I rev it, then they back way off. Either of my 944 Turbos were actually quicker than either 928. |
When I had my big block Coronet convertible a friend borrowed it. A late 80s 5.0 Mustang was pacing him on the frontage road so my buddy floored it leaving about 100' of stripes from both tires. The Mustang backed off.
|
My foot doctor says he does that with his old Grand National. Says it lays rubber when downshift and floor it at 80mph.
When I had my black 90 944 Turbo it made over 400 rwhp. It was difficult to keep the lower gears from just spinning the tires. I was looking at adding an eBoost like the guys on Street Outlaw use on their turbo cars. You can program a boost curve for each gear limiting the boost in lower gears cause spinnin aint winnin. |
And here I'm just happy if it starts and goes for a drive.
|
I'm slowly learning to live with my reduced driving panache.
