Back when I was your age, I worked as a union millwright.
Often that included traveling out of town to different sites.
There was almost always an unwritten contest that the first millwright to get some "out of town" strange didn't have to pay for drinks for the duration of the job.

There was an old joke that went like this:

What's the difference between a millwright and a cow?
A cow won't stay up all night trying to nail a pig.

Just an old man saying, directed at the whipper snappers.

Tuesday morning and the wife of the mean ol boss is gonna make me cut on some more tree limbs I suspect.

flipper35 06-05-2019 08:01 AM

Had to mow yesterday. Dad informed me one of the springs broke on the motorcycle trailer so I will order some new ones and new hanger hardware for it.

Back at the dash tonight. Will trace and label the remaining existing wiring. Woo hoo. Dance class tomorrow and then off to the state clay's tournament Friday night so we don't have to get up at a sparrow's fart Saturday morning. I think I will nap Sunday so I can practice slacking.

We have a Autocross coming up on Sunday. Likely the last autocross before I get new tires for my road trip. The current tires are pretty close to the wear bars. I am not going 5,000 miles on almost worn out tires.

Afternoon all. Got called out of town again this week but back home now.

Brent one step closer I found the old camera but got called away before I could find out of it works. Maybe in the next few days.

flipper35 06-05-2019 10:37 AM

Don't you love work trips!

Porsche-poor 06-05-2019 10:48 AM

Not really. up at 4:30 out the door by 5 drive 2.5 hours work for 8 then camp in a hotel after that and no compensation for my time for the drive. Stay one night work till 2pm the next day and drive 3 hours home (traffic).

flipper35 06-05-2019 11:15 AM

Well that sucks. I get paid my travel time at least. When I go to the IT conference in Austin I get paid the days I fly. Last couple trips we drove with the family though so I get paid for the two days of the conference and only one day of travel plus the price of a ticket. I don't have to travel much for actual work. A few things around town here is about it and that we get .55 per mile. One way.

Porsche-poor 06-05-2019 11:22 AM

I get mileage and that's it. No extra for the travel time.

Sounds like a great excuse to go wild at autocross and burn those suckers up.

That sucks David. My mean ol boss made me take his wife to Sam's for a fruit run. I had to blow my budget for lunch, $3.03 for the two of us to eat. She thinks I am a high roller guess.

GH85Carrera 06-05-2019 01:22 PM

We have rain approaching our area. Gee how unusual.

It was no problem getting the dog to eat 15 minutes earlier than normal. They both decided it was a great idea. Typical dog, feed em, and they want to go poop. So they got their business all finished before the rain got here.

I have an app on my phone from one of the local TV stations. Super high res Radar, and and no delay. It has weather alerts so it tells me if rain or storms are approaching my location.

flipper35 06-05-2019 01:33 PM

I was privileged enough to mow last night since it wasn't raining. Some days I wonder about getting Zosia (sp?) but my wife, who has a much better head on her shoulders than I do, says that stuff chokes everything out and will kill the strawberry patch under the flag pole and everything in the garden since that stuff will throw runners under paved driveways to find ways to expand. At least we wouldn't have weeds and it doesn't grow tall like regular lawn grass.

Welp, they decided my issues were not life threatening and sent me home from the hospital.
Actually walked out on the hospital in Tulsa.

Went Monday because got real dizzy and started projectile vomiting while taking brother Bob to lunch. Panera Bread.
Went to Tulsa hospital. They took blood, did a chest x-ray, cat scan of my head, then left me in the waiting room for 8 hours. We got in the Cayenne and my bro drove me home. Couldn't tell us when a doc could see us, so didn't tell them we left.
Figured it wasn't too bad or they would not have left me so long.

Got up next morning (Tues) and called 911 with the same symptoms.
They didn't do all those expensive tests, just took blood and vitals.
Gave me a bunch of nausea drugs and told me to go see my regular doc, no indicators that it was life threatening.
Can't get in to doc until Monday.

Can't move much or I get dizzy and empty my stomach.

Next door neighbors came over and offered to go get me something to eat, if I could eat.
Just drinking sips of water and saltine crackers.

Jim Richards 06-05-2019 02:31 PM

Wow, Richard. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/pukeface.gif That sounds miserable. I hope you recover pronto!

Brent, you've got a lot of practicing ahead of you before you can equal my slacking.

Happy to report that vacation in Hawaii is still relaxing... ;). Did some snorkeling yesterday, spent the day today at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Man going back to work next week is going to suck.

GH85Carrera 06-06-2019 04:59 AM

Glad yer having fun. They had just finished building the Polynesian Cultural Center when we had some relatives come visit us back in about 1970.

Tell yer kids that you know a guy so old that he lived in Hawaii when it became a state!

Oh, and for a true treat, next trip to a grocery store or convenience store ask for a package of Li Hing Mui. We could only get the original, dried plum with seed when we lived there. Now there are lots of varieties. I have often thought about ordering some on-line just never pulled the trigger.

Have fun!
