With the center console, AC and central locking and the stereo fader, it is a chore. I have it all out, the new bushing installed. It better be orgasmic for shifting after all that work.

The old shift knob was on there and impossible to remove without destruction of the knob. And I still had to Dremel off the crush sleeve. I wanted to remove the leather gator, and do some touch up on the leather "while I was in there" and it looks better. I had bought a Dave Mason shift knob years ago, but I could not use it as I could not get the old knob off.

The shifter is back in p[lace, and bolted down. That is where I quit. I still have to put the center console back on. The seat back in, and the steering wheel back on. Maybe another full day of work will get me back on the ground and driving.

Still not sure where my car stands at the moment.

Sorry 'bout the job thing. It will work out.

Had my annual review today. Says people like working with me. Don't know why, it isn't like I care what people think so I don't really suck up to people. I do tease. My boss made an off color joke about himself and a team member joked he was disappointed he didn't get to hear more about the issue. I said that requires a sub to his only fans. Made the boss' day. Had to be there.

Maple trees are filling buckets for us. About 3 gallons per tap and we have 9 taps right now. Maple syrup, maple sugar, maple caramel. Mmmmmm.

Morning all. Yeah being unemployed is not all that its cracked up to be..............

GH85Carrera 02-22-2024 02:45 PM

Hopefully you can get on unemployment. You have paid into that fund with each paycheck.

Phew. Getting closer to the finish line for my simple bushing replacement.

I had to stop mid project as I had called the bank where our business has our accounts. We have a nice little nest egg in a savings account we call the "engine fund" for buying a factory re-manufactured engine, and the cost of a mechanic doing the swap. It was drawing a whopping 1.20% so we set up a CD to move most of the fund into a compounding CD at 4%.

My business partner and I both had to go to the brick and motor bank and we had to wait 20 minutes to see the lady I called and set it up with. She had everything printed and ready to go, but I had to sign my name 7 times and my business partner signed his 4 times. They had to scan our driver's license and handed a folder with several dozen pages of printouts to file away.

At my credit union where I have my personal account, I set up a new CD that took a couple of minutes, and one electronic signature, and no paper at all. My wife and I were there anyway getting our absentee ballots notarized. Done in just a few minutes.

I hate banks, but the law says businesses HAVE to use a bank.

This is the log I asked about when you went to Crater Lake. We saw it on our visit.

Morning all. Its Friday and who cares!

GH85Carrera 02-23-2024 02:21 PM

Phew. The 911 is back on it's tires. It starts and runs. I still need to adjust the shift coupling in the rear of the tunnel. That can wait for another day.

Porsche-poor 02-24-2024 04:27 PM

Mine is still in the air waiting on parts.

GH85Carrera 02-24-2024 05:00 PM

I actually drove it today. All the gears work, and ZERO slop or play in the shifting. I like it. I need to drive it further and test it more but the 5 miles I did it felt great.

On Saturday, I was informed by Mrs. Carrera that we "needed" new furniture. I did not argue, as I hate our couch & love seat. The love seat is only used when we have several guests. The couch has cushions that are shot, and not very comfortable. So we went to the main store of one of the main furniture stores. The place is over 300,000 sq feet and nice furniture everywhere. Gallery after gallery of different brands, and one entire area for the designer stuff. As soon as you walk in a "sales associate" asks questions as to what you are looking for, and guides you around to the various makers selections. We walked for over a mile.

Today a designer comes out and helps her figure out what she wants. I just answer "yes dear" as I really don't care what it looks like, I just want something comfortable, that will last.

Morning all. Good plan Glen.

GH85Carrera 02-26-2024 01:59 PM

The other day wile driving to an from the furniture store it was in the low 80s, and I noticed my El Camino AC was not doing much at all. I had noticed last fall it was not as cold as it should be. I got to looking at the connections, and found one of the hoses I had replaced was just not tight. I knew who to blame. Anyway, and little snug down, and I added two pounds of refrigerant, and in the current 89 degree wonderful weather for February, it now blows sub 40 degree air. I like it!

I will have to wait until the real summer heat to test it fully.

Porsche-poor 02-27-2024 10:26 AM

Morning all. Just back from Honda for a recall on the CRV.

GH85Carrera 02-27-2024 10:49 AM

It is windy today! 28 MPH steady, with gusts to 47. It is supposed to be in the 80s again today. But tonight a front comes through and it drops to 28 tonight with a wind chill of 14. No shorts tomorrow.

Porsche-poor 02-27-2024 10:59 AM

I was cold here last night and I saw a few snow flakes on the way to Honda. To warm now.

GH85Carrera 02-27-2024 11:51 AM

What was the recall about?

Porsche-poor 02-27-2024 11:53 AM

I guess there was a missing fuse in the battery system. In the event of an accident it could cause a fire. So they put one in.

Easy fix. The price was right as well.

We drove to my mother-in-law's house today. Today is her 92nd birthday.

It was a wild and crazy party for a 92 year old Southern Baptist lady. We went out to eat! Almost like Animal House Toga party, just scaled down 99.999%.

With the wind forecast I decided to drive the 911. It was low to no winds on the trip up. By 11:00 AM the winds came sweeping down the plains. On the trip home for the first 30 miles we go straight east. It was a tail wind and eerie quiet with no wind noise. Then we turn south on I-35 and it was a nice side wind that made driving fun.

Porsche-poor 02-28-2024 08:30 AM

Morning all. We had crazy weather all day yesterday. Wind, rain, hail and a few snowflakes here and there at higher alt.
