Computer users that were weened on one OS typically find other OSs very frustrating.

i guess i am not that kind of user. i haven't found an OS that i couldn't use.

as for speed increases, what, exactly, do you mean?

There is no doubt that modern computers of today running the latest OS are easier to use than the old days of command line. I still drop to the command line for some tasks.

It is frustrating when using a OS that you are simply ignorant about. I tried to set up a wireless router on a Mac a few days ago and I figured it would be super simple. I did not know about network locations on a MAC. Once that was explained to me it was simple. Way easier than setting up TCIP on a Win 3.33 computer. :D

I remember the days of punching in exact arcane strings of modem commands to program a 14400 baud modem that cost me 700 bucks. That was a real pain in the butt just to exchange text.

Afternoon guys. Well after my morning, and getting the Targa back up and running me and the daughter took it into town (picked up a 1T external) the left front caliper started sticking. WTF?
What god of brake stuff did I tick off?

RKDinOKC 12-28-2010 01:11 PM

Didn't say it was unusable, just frustrating. Especially when trying change settings.

How long have processors been in the 2.x GHz range with only marginal bumps in speed? There for a while every time a new model came out it was at least 50% faster.

multiple processors. i've had that setup since the p3 700 MHz stuff. that is how they are faster. leaps and bounds, actually.

Hey Rick......know anything about toyota all wheel drive?
My daughter said that the car was making a clunking noise so i checked all the CV joints and there fine but i discoverd a bad LR strut.
Well i replaced the struts and went for a test spin and it still clunks once in a while WTF.
So back in the garage jack up all 4 corners...wheel bearing are fine but i notice the driver side rear tire, when spun, will bind up and stop rotating. If spun the other direction (in reverse) no bind. I'm guessing something in the differential is F'd up.
Any ideas?

Rick V 12-28-2010 02:43 PM

Hey Pete, you have a PM

RKDinOKC 12-28-2010 03:51 PM

I guess they did good if nobody notice the processor speeds kinda stopped going up.

The latest round of Adobe and Office really made things slow down.

nynor 12-28-2010 03:55 PM

are you judging solely the MHz of the processors?

nynor 12-28-2010 05:55 PM

P4L: you are financing the apple bendover?! REALLY?!!! oh man. i give up.

porsche4life 12-28-2010 09:31 PM

slodave 12-29-2010 12:47 AM

Crap, forgot to cover the Targa.... No worries, it's still tucked away. :) Is it raining yet? Hmm.

Rick V 12-29-2010 12:51 AM

I am mad at my Targa, it is tucked away for a while.
