JB Weld is the cure! Get the 5 minute version, the 24 hour set means no food or water for 24 hours.

Only slightly toxic.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 PM CST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow this afternoon changing to a wintry mix overnight and then light snow Saturday. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph on Saturday may lead to patchy blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...Portions of central, southwest and west central Wisconsin, northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota. * WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 6 PM CST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.

I hate when it gets windy when it snows.

David, smoothies for desert?

GH85Carrera 01-17-2020 10:54 AM

40 MPH gusts are annoying. We get that often. It really sucks in the winter.

flipper35 01-17-2020 11:23 AM

Yup. 40 isn't bad in the summer, but when it does this it sucks. Blows, whatever.

We had a big blizzard back on Christmas eve, 2009.

The wind caused a lot of drifting. It was "only" 6 inches of actual snow as I remember.

I spent the days out in my garage rebuilding the suspension on my 911. I sure remember the knot in my stomach when I looked at my 911 and the suspension was on the floor of the garage, and nothing under the car but jack stands.

No doubt the torsion bars needed replacing and all the rubber bushings. And lots of "while your in there" moments.

The rear was not as bad, but it got replaced and updated to ER rubber bushings al around. And new Bilstien shocks, and other little things.

Nope, didn’t happen last week. I guess I’m rinsing it off again in the morning :(

It’s supposed to be cooler this next week (mid 30’s) so hopefully it’ll get done soon.

I am shocked, shocked I say!

I contacted my internet provider. I need more speed. So I am now on the gigabit download speed package. I am supposed to have 1024 Megabytes per second, (not megabits) and 35 upload.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1579380434.jpg

Well, I am getting just 416 down and the upload speed speed is wonderful. So I called tech support and she was fine for getting it setup and registered to work, but useless on making it get to full speed. I will wait until Monday and call during the day and talk to someone smarter or more capable. 415 is blazing fast, but I am paying for 1024, and dang in I want full speed, not half speed.

Mostly I upgraded for the faster upload speed. No I need to figure out a VPN that is not expensive. I looked at the VNP.net and their solution, and for running it as a service so it is always on, is still pretty pricey for as little as we will use it.

Brent, how good or bad is Remote Desktop that comes with Windows 10? All we really need to do is see each other's network, search for a file on the raid, and move it across the internet from my computer to his or vice versa.

RKDinOKC 01-18-2020 01:23 PM

Using VPN Remote Desktop seems to send and receive files about the same as file sharing, BUT usually send comparatively small files around with copy/paste. They are small enough they fit on the clipboard. I assume file sharing would be faster for large map files, but am not sure.

Just a thought. You should be able to set your router that does NAT to you private network to pass public traffic to a box on a specific interal IP. It is called the host machine. That would mean you would just have one machine on each network you can login and copy files to/from. Just lock down the host traffic to only allow the other users IP address to be able to log in securely.. It would be safe and you would not have to purchase any VPN sogyware. The limitation would be just access to one machine on each network. The big thing about a VPN is that you would have access to all machines on the other network, not just one. It you are just sending files to a raid, don't think that would be necessary.

Oh my goodness...Just discovered Letterkenny from Canadian TV on YouTube. Freakin Hilarious!
There are lots of YouTube shorts, Letterkenny

Think Trailer Park Boys is funny. But friend says he grew up in a trailer park and it was way to close to home for him.

I also liked Gas Station.

Lazy cold day. Been binge watching the new episode videos for Moonshiners. In the 70's did a term paper on Moonshining. Got an A on it in College English.

We did something different. We went to see a movie. 1917. Good flick. Make me never want to complain about a tough day at work.

Computers are so much fun!

We flew a project on Saturday and as usual I wanted to get on it right away. This one has real ground control points from a surveyor, and will be used for volume calculations. The surveyour sent over a ASCII test file right from his survey equipment. The file shows a target number, the coordinates in Y,X,Z. Easy peazy to import, usually. This time everything I tried the program said it had an error, and just made a pretty chime noise as the error.

I cussed a lot, and got my business partner's help. He knows lots of cuss words. He pulled up the flight we did for the client last year of the same site. Looked at that text file and the format looked the same. Still the error when trying to import it. I was about ready to just manually punch in the numbers from the file, but that has the risk of keyboard error, and is a stupid solution in the digital era.

Anyway, we finally imported it into Excel, and exported it as a text file. Evidently there were some carriage returns at the end of the file that are invisible. So we learned to be sure the data file is ONLY the number we need, and not one space or carriage return extra.

Going thru the emails from while I was drugged up from the accident found last year was my 40th Anniversary working. Was supposed to pick up some kind of milestone gift at the Christmas dinner that I couldn't attend.

For my 35th got a set of 9 battery operated Dewalt power tools in 2 big tool bags with batteries and charger. Actually is was a gift book where you pick from about 20 items. Before they did the gift books I would have gotten a gold watch with a custom face with the logo and main product in relief.

Actually I started mowing the yard when I was 13 until I went to college. And worked part time from 16 thru college. But not full time until 1980. So have gotten checks for 47 years.

GH85Carrera 01-20-2020 11:01 AM

My brother-in-law just celebrated his 45th anniversary at his place of work. He started working there just after he graduated from high school. It is the only job he has ever had.

I worked at Pro Photo for 27 years until digital photography killed professional photo labs. Then worked for another different digital photo lab for a few years until I could see the "good enough" for me mentality of customers and printing was vanishing. I had the chance to go to aerial photography, the last holdout of analog film based photography. Then digital finally was superior to film cameras that cost $500,000 and a dedicated Cessna 206 airplane with 24 inch holes in the belly to carry it around.

We just delivered to the client a job we flew on Saturday. It is better in every way than the same thing done on film. Sharper, clearer, higher resolution, more accurate, way better color, faster, and way cheaper for us to produce. Cheaper for the client, and we make more money for less effort.

So owning my own company is only my 5th different job. All involve photography. I never did have a manager or a line of managers to report to. If I had a question, I went to the boss and owner, and got a decision.
