Good plan the kid just wants the paper to move on to grad school.

GH85Carrera 03-30-2020 09:12 AM

So what is he wanting to get a degree in?

Not drawing pipes and stuff in CAD I am guessing.

GH85Carrera 03-30-2020 10:10 AM

David, I found a quote that made me think of you for some unknown reason.

Jimmy Stewart as Elmer P Dowd in “Harvey:

“Well, I've wrestled with reality for thirty-five years, doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it.“

Porsche-poor 03-30-2020 11:45 AM

kid 1 is getting an English degree
kid 2 theater for now

GH85Carrera 03-30-2020 11:54 AM

My wife is an English major. It came in handy for writing reports and proposals at work.

My degree is in life lessons, and I have a BS degree, only it ain't a Bachelor of Science, it is a lot more um "earthy" and the more common definition of BS.

Porsche-poor 03-30-2020 11:56 AM

Changed HVAC filters. The new ones have way less pleats. Usually change filters when I wake up with a stuffy nose. Now my nose is running all the time. Took some benadryl and makes me sleepy and gives me a headache. But my nose doesn't run as much. Also noticed the air purifier I got, it senses the air quality, runs a LOT more.

My big concern is I had a very low grade temperature this morning. Usually 97.6°F was 98.8°F. Checked about an hour later and am back to 97.6°F. And I didnt take anything to reduce it.

Have I somehow contracted The Virus or just having an allergy reaction?

RKDinOKC 03-30-2020 07:26 PM

Temp is still normal for me 97.6°F

Golly what fun.

We made a fruit run to Sam's this morning. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they will open up earlier (7:00 AM) and it is for geezers, er Seniors only. They did not have to ask for our ID so I guess we qualified. It was busier today at 7:30 than we have ever seen it, by far. There was a line of 20 cars doing the order on-line and pickup thing so they did not have to get out of the vehicle.

We went in as usual so I can pick and chose the best fruit. I had on rubber gloves because Mrs. Carrera insisted. So I "got" to pick up every item and put it in the cart. I "got" to push the cart, and and I got to run my phone app to scan and pay for everything. Then she "let" me put the cart in the corral. So she went to supervise my work for the most part.

There were lines of people at the self check out, and long lines at the human checkout. Lots of old geezers, and not one punk kid or rug rat or millennials to be seen. Sam's says that the "deep clean" the store and re-stock before they open. That may be, but they had little TP, and no Clorox or alcohol and cleaning supplies. Lots of fresh fruit, and that is the main reason we went. We don't need TP anyway. There were several areas just stripped of whatever was normally there.

One guy was buying for some sort of large operation, or he was the ultimate hoarder. He had 12,000 foam cups, 27 cans of Folgers coffee, lots of Starbucks coffee, 18 cans of Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix, three 25 pound bags of sugar, and a lot of other stuff. I saw him checking out and said, man you must be really thirsty! He smiled, and said well, its just the triplets, they are just demanding.

I just hope he was stocking up a hospital or emergency center and not some hoarder.

Porsche-poor 03-31-2020 05:58 AM

Morning all. I saw a news snip about how Costco and other places are no longer going to take returns for certain items. The hoarders bought it they can use it.

GH85Carrera 03-31-2020 06:03 AM

Yea, I saw that Costco is not taking returns for cases of water, TP and cleaning supplies. I think it makes perfect sense.

My wife accused me of hoarding bananas at Sam's because I have a good supply already. The ones from Sam's were so green it will be 4 or 5 days before they are yellow. They will not get tossed I assured her.

Must have gptten complacent. Thought I would be the only one that could pick fruits and veggies for myself. But in six months the only thing they messed up on was the MEGA rolls of toilet paper. Since I got the extender for my roller that don't matter no more, and has saved me from actually hoarding since I have a couple of big packages of the mega rolls.

There are people complaining on FB that people are taking their kids grocery shopping. I'm doing the opposite. My last grocery delivery the 1 shopper was getting groceries for 3 people.

There has been a run on more than TP. Having trouble finding immodium. Guess people are trying to save TP. Me, trying to save doing laundry and cleaning the floors. Especially since my gut doctor appointment go moved out 2 months.

Glen, hope you cleaned all the stuff you as you brought it in your house, then disinfected your shopping car too!

GH85Carrera 03-31-2020 08:10 AM

We opened most of the packages and dumped the contents into our containers. The ones we kep in boxes were wiped down. We used the El Camino and put everything in the open bed as usual.

And we both washed our hands again after we were started wiping things down and after everything is put away.

Back in the days of the Karen Silkwood lawsuit against Kerr McGee I printed some of the court room evidence photo enlargements. They had gone through her apartment to find the places she had touched after she was contaminated. It was weird to see small places like light switches and the handle of the freezer that were contaminated and marked. It is easy to see how very few if anyone can keep things uncontaminated once their hands have it and they start touching things.

Yep, and Men started shaving because of WWI gas masks.

Well the weekend was a bit crappy, but got a lot done last night. Made venison jerky, replaced the battery in the lawn tractor, filled some holes in the gravel part of the drive, replaced the power supply in the daughters gaming computer, adjusted the latches on the doors in the Cobra and repainted the clamp for the steering column.

This is a family story of my grandmother's grandfather. The son named Gus Hoefer in the article was my great-grandfather. His name was William Hoefer.

I have been bearded since my 20's. However, was neatly trimmed short until 10 years ago. Not white enough to be mistaken for ZZTop, but Duck Dynasty is more likely.

Noticed a few years ago, when Duck Dynasty was popular A lot of people watched me in restaurants. And still get people I don't know telling me they like my beard. Women just say they like it. Men ask how long it took to grow.

After 10 years it must be at it's maximum length. My rat tail reached my butt crack. Could hide it under my shirt. Was just curious how long it would get.

If I shave the beard, sure that my chin will look really small. At least to me.

Anyone know if Dell makes a sim product to the surface. Working from home the wife is having issues using her iPad to remote into her desktop at work. She had a surface till late last year and the battery quit charging.
