I do the updates on the phone and only use plugging in to do a hard backup to my PC.
Yep, amazing my phone has 128GB of memory and that's not all you can get. |
I did not know there was an undate to do until I plugged in the phone. The computer downloads the update faster than the phone does it. And I will backup my wife's phone and update it. And her iPad.
Mostly I just back up her devices. It just amazes me how big of a file updates can be. There is a new Win10 update that takes a while too. I don't even know how big it is, I did not care. I just got curious about the phone OS update. |
Well crap. Mrs Carrera got us up at 5:30 AM this morning so we could go to the local grocery store that has their seniors hour at 6:00 to 7:00 AM. We pull in the parking lot and the place is pretty empty, no line whoo hooo. Um, they changed the store hours to 7:00 to 8:00 and just have not updated the web page. Well crap. So the Super Target is on the way home, they don't open until 8:00. So we figured in desperation maybe the Wal Mart grocery store was open. Nope, 7:00
So we came back home, and will head back out shortly to be there at 7:00 AM to the same old grocery store. The only good news is traffic is really light! And the other bad news of the day, Porsche Parade 2020 is officially canceled. |
My niece has all but one of her kids home. There are 9 at her house including her and her husband.
And one kid has a compromised immune system due to cancer treatments. |
We were at the front door of the supermarket at 6:59:55 AM and one one person at a time is allowed in, so I stayed in the car. The paper-towel and TP aisle is still bare empty. They had most other things.

Morning all. Yeah ain't shopping fun now...………...NOT!
Saw where the parade got the axe. That sucks for you. There is always next year. |
I guess will millions of dollars at risk, and possible virus lawsuits it is the only logical thing to do. Next year is French Lick, IN so a easy one day drive, 725 miles.
|
Is it possible they might hit the reset and hold next year out here?
|
I doubt it. I would bet the hotels in French Lick are all committed for next year. They plan stuff years in advance, they have to. Back when we did out Parade the regions did 99% of the work, and national just handled the money. Now National does 90% of the work, and the volunteers are mostly the two weeks around Parade. National just wanted total control, and more of the money and less for the local region.
It has been changed on short notice before. When the Vermont parade was first scheduled the ski resort promised new parking lots. Parade even had it in the contract. The resort missed that deadline and Parade was moved. The resort evidently slapped their forehead and said oh, you were serious about the parking lots. We filled up that ski resort in the middle of summer and rented a lot of condos and the hotel was packed. Only time will tell what happens. |
Would parade be shut down sooner this year with the virus thing if it had been in "French Lick?"
The name being the opposite of social distancing? |
Good day all. Snowed yesterday. I don't remember having to wear a winter coat to mow ever.
|
Yikes!
I’m wearing a t-shirt and sitting on the patio, sipping lemonade. Low to mid-70s here. |
Mertnin.
Jim, sounds like T-shirt and shorts weather. Not here. Enjoying my sweat pants. 48°F this morning. |
We were 32 degrees yesterday morning, and it was 66 by afternoon. Supposed to be 70+ today. I am back to my shorts, yeah.
|
Morning all. Currently 41 and sunny out and I'm stuck at the home office.
|
Above 54°F and it's shorts weather! It's 57°F out now so time to switch to shorts! And looks like shorts until after midnite.
|
turn the heat up in the house and its shorts weather. Then again maybe not. This whole work from home thing is a boon to business. My electrical and heating bill is going up and not at the office.
|
Since have been doing the work from home thing for over 10 years now...
Have done a lot to lower the at home bills. Besides going to all led lights, and implemented minimal lighting. In office only use LED desk lamp that lights in front of my screens. Rest of room is dark. Have small led flash light if need to see better while at desk, or if drop something on floor. Have one led lamp on in the living room. Have one led light on over the kitchen sink. Have led light in plug in hallway. Everything else is dark unless I specifically need a light on. Then it goes off when i leave that room. Unscrew bulbs over bathroom sinks so I only use one. If I want more light can screw the other 2 in farther. Have floaters from my eye problems so it being darker has the benefit of making the floaters less annoying. Do leave led outdoor porch and garage lights on dusk to dawn (sensor). They are led and use so little it would take me over two years to pay for timer switches to shut them off from midnite to dawn. Use setback thermostat for day/night in winter. Run it colder in winter than summer and take advantage of smart thermostat during summer. Cook mainly on gas grill/roaster to keep heat outside. Use a 1500watt toaster oven instead of 3500watt oven inside. Put 1/2 gallon milk jugs with water in all the empty spaces in fridge and freezer so it doesn't have to re-cool as much air when I open them. Set my water heater lower. Doesn't get as hot, but don't run out showering. Had to get used to using less cold water to mix when showering, but don't even notice now. Dish washer heats it's own water. Have 6 computers running, but they really don't use that much electricity when the monitors are off, Less than 11 watts each and go to lower power when not busy. Can tell on my bill the days I watch more TV with the big screen and surround sound. Some days it doubles my usage. Manage to stay under $100/mo for 1700 sqft. |
My wife has lots of hobbies that are electricity suckers. The koi pond had a 3/4 HP pump running 24-7. Her aquarium runs 24-7 and has a heater to keep the water warm. For a month she had a LED light on a seed incubator and a heating pad under neath the seeds to warm them up to make them think it was spring so they germinated.
Of course I have a heated and air conditioned garage, but I only run that when I am out there. And our house is 2,700 sq ft with 12 foot ceilings in the giant living room and 10 foot in the rest of the house. Heck the master closet is almost the size of my first apartment. When my brother in law helped us move in he saw the closet door open and commented it is a nice big walk in closet. I told him to go in the 8 feet he can see, and then turn left. He thought I was kidding. When my wife saw it the first time, she was sold on the house, and I had already fallen in love with my 3 car garage and bathroom in the garage. |
We might hit 60 sometime next week. At least it is better than the storm of '73 with 13 inches of snow.
The youngest helped make the rest of the jerky and meat sticks while his computer was transferring files for the HD upgrade. |
