well for one I don't get paid mileage to drive to work. In fact when I do have to use my car I'm supposed to deduct the miles from home to work from the total. Which I told them was bull@#^$ cause the last trip was to go south and I have already driven to work and I live south of the office.

My point was that is cost YOU money to drive to and from work. You are not spending that money money now since you work from home. If you are spending less than 10 bucks per day for electricity, you are ahead of the game for the cost.

If you are indeed driving for work, just log every bit of it, and turn it in to reimbursement. It is frustrating when you have to go into the office, and then have to go back the way you came.

Porsche-poor 04-27-2020 07:45 AM

you are probably right but there are two others in the home-office who think the heat needs turned up for some reason.

Speaking of meters, Is this a good one?

I have one I bought many years ago. It does not have the little plug extension, so plugging in a large transformer is sometimes impossible. Likely any of the them will get you close enough for what you need to know. 16 Amps will cover most circuits. You can always plug a power strip into it and measure the computer, monitor, modem, router and so on.

RKDinOKC 04-27-2020 12:18 PM

Have 6 computers running two with 2 monitors and work from home. Granted 4 of them are servers only accessed remotely. My electricity usage is usually under 25 kWh per day for the whole house. Pay under $100 per month. Do run winter thermosat 72°F day and 68°F night.

A few years ago a friend in Austin helped setup a shared office space where you just rented the space you needed when you needed it for meetings, etc. They even provide receptionists.

On Sunday when I washed my Elky it was 78 degrees, but very low dew point or humidity. It was super pleasant and comfortable.

Today the humidity is coming up from the Gulf through Baja Oklahoma and a cold front is coming in from them dang Canadians, and some of the heat from Sid's part of the country is invading. The different forces are predicted to meet here this afternoon abut 5:00 PM. Thunderstorms are almost sure, and there could be some mega lumpy precipitation. Baseball sized hail is predicted for parts of the state. It will all depend on just where it forms.

Not a good night to go camping. Of course for me, there is never a good time to go live like a homeless person. I think camping is slow WiFi and no high def flat screen TV or crappy AC.

Porsche-poor 04-28-2020 06:44 AM

Morning all. Glen I'm with you. I only go camping if there is something to kill aka hunt and I have not done that in close to 20 years. I like my wifi and roofs.

Our typical opening day for gun deer season is to get out of my nice warm bed, get the kids up, get everyone dressed. Go have a nice big breakfast at the local diner. Go stand in the woods a while and then we walk the woods pushing any deer we missed to the guys at the other end. Have some donuts and chocolate milk. Use the bathroom if needed. Go walk the woods some more. Now it is lunch time so we go to the local bar and grill. We drive around a bit, oh look, the cheese store in Fayette has fresh cheese curds lets get some. Need more chocolate milk. Walk some more woods. Go sit in some other woods. Stop for supper on the way home and drop off the deer so the guy can cut it up for us. $55 each to have it processed.

Washed and tried the new Mothers CMX stuff on the car. Looks good but will have to see how well it does compared to a good carnuba. Drove the turd into work since it is supposed to storm and I would rather that get hailed on than the good car.

Looking at getting a Pacifica to replace the Durango and us directors will get a bonus for this COVID thing so that will help with a down payment. The hourly employees get a $4 per hour bonus until the end of June for the same reason. Will probably keep the Durango since it has 200k miles and would be worth nothing on trade but still worth using since it can tow quite a bit. The daughter likes it better than the turd, except the truck does take a long time to warm up in the winter. Cools off better though. Needs new bushings in the front end and I think I will do the whole a arm replacement since I don't have tools to press the bushings out and it will give me new ball joints and tie rod ends in the kit as well. Cost 2x what the bushing would cost but a huge time saver. Might as well replace the shocks while I am that far in. Bilsteins going in.

We rough it pretty hard when we hunt. I can't understand why the kids enjoy it so much. Though Jacobs favorite part was helping field dress the deer.

We do walk several miles each day which burns off 1/5th of the food we eat and those curds scooped right out of the vat. Nothing better! I don't know why man ever stopped hunting. OK, the one year it was -15* before factoring the wind chill and that was silly. The kid stayed in the van with dad and let the rifles sit outside on the cases to shoot at the deer they didn't see because the deer were smart enough to hunker down out of the cold.

Two years ago the boy took his .22 along and was going to bring a squirrel home to try. Well, he shot and hit the acorn out of the squirrels paws and the squirrel then started chewing him out. He was laughing too much to try again. Also have to deal with the stupid turkeys that start running and plow into you. Did I mention they are stupid. maybe not stare at the rain and drown stupid but lets land on the guy with a firearm stupid.

Always an adventure anyway.

When in scouts we were always armed on our camping trips. Difference was we had to pack our food, no stops, and had to sleep gear we brought as well. The only one that slept in the van was the scoutmaster. Still remember the look on his face in the window of the van when looked over at the van with mountain lions creeping through camp.

Dressed cooked and ate all kinds of animals and fish. Caught trout with a bow and arrow. Had rattlesnake too. Good thing we didn't ever come across any bobcats when the forestry service was paying $75 a pelt or we probably would have tried bobcat stew! At least tried most everything, BUT turned down the bass they caught that were full of worms.

It was fun enough we kept doing it even though half the kids in our troop were handicapped.
Funny how fast the handicapped guys could run when being chased by dobermans.

Guess the other big difference is the non-handicapped had to pass all their first aid badges before they could go on our camping/hiking trips.
Had one kid have an epileptic fit crossing a waterfall. We had to carry him back to camp so could take him to town for stitches. Cracked his head open. And once on a 50 mile hike a small group of a Dad and two handicapped kids got lost. Did not find them until the next morning. Found them because the kids screamed. Dad had made them some nice beds in some tall grass which is why we couldn't find them. They were awoken by a bunch of cows gathered around them munching on the grass and that scared the two kids.

I’m a happy camper :D

The Tojo is always packed and ready to head off. Good camping weather is almost upon us, and I’m looking forward to being able to travel further than our town limits.

Assault weapons?

We can own and drive around in fully functional tanks because of the 2nd Amendment!

GH85Carrera 04-29-2020 05:35 AM

There was an episode of Pawn Stars where Rick and his crew went to look at a genuine Sherman tank that had battle damage from Iwo Jima. It was fully functional, and Rick got to shoot a round through the cannon. It was for sale but a good bit over a million bucks. Totally cool toy, and it should be in a real museum. There is a place in Vegas that will take you to the desert, and let you drive tanks for a fee. And they will sell them if you have money.

A gun store a few mils from my house has fully functional machine guns that you can shoot in full auto mode but it sucks up money at a very raid rate. It would be fun to go blast away with a Ma Deuce. All it takes is some money.

And you have to have a permit to drive in a tank on the streets plus have the rubber pads for the tracks. They are not tagged for street driving.

RKDinOKC 04-29-2020 06:17 AM

You can shoot a missle/rocket too, but in some states it requires a permit or there is a small fine.

GH85Carrera 04-29-2020 06:21 AM

Have you ever seen the videos of the most heavily armed man in America? He has an over the top amazing collection. His collection has actual cluster bombs, thousands of grenades, and even some SAM missiles.

It is perfectly legal to buy a grenade. Of course it does take a lot of paperwork, and some expensive licenses. You can go to a safe place and throw it and boom, and all your money you spent blows up. Seems kinda stupid, but one can do it.

RKDinOKC 04-29-2020 08:51 AM

When into RC planes met some guys into rockets. The differences between subsonic and supersonic of the same size was really interesting.

Their big thing was getting altitude clearance for the locations, dates, and times they were launching stuff.
