I love the mindset of when even the tools become toys.

So, Wednesday night we went to go get a sandwich and two feet outside the garage exit door stands Pepe LePew. Quick shut the door and go out the front door to toss a few rocks at it from 50' away. I am pretty sure they won't spray that far. Stupid thin then walked into open door in the outside garage. Ugh.
David, you have skunks in your state? When my sister lived in NC, they didn't have skunks there and when they had to go to a convention they got to an area with skunks and one had been hit. Everyone but my sister started gagging asking what that smell was and my sister said it was a skunk, hadn't hey ever smelled one before? None had seen or smelled one before. I thought they lived everywhere. |
If you threw rocks at me, I might sneak into your house to let off a few farts, too.

I was afraid I might knock it out if i hit it in the head so I was trying to throw short. Some were 7-8 ounces. They eat grubs and other insects we don't like. I just don't need them at my door asking for food. |
Yeah we have the stinky little buggers here. We see more trash pandas than stinkers.
|
What is funny is when Azzy was here in the USA she came across a dead skunk in the middle of the road was was appalled at the stink. Australia has no skunks, just deadly spiders and snakes and even the only egg laying, venomous duck billed mammal with beaver tail on the planet. Just no skunks.

Our male dachshund got sprayed twice last year. The second time right in the face. He still did not learn that lesson. We got the mama skunk and her four kits trapped by a pro.

One of my former co-workers worked for the wildlife department for several years. He was a ranger at a remote campsite. One of his duties was to count the local wildlife population. He would order concentrated wolf pee and then he had to use it. He said it came in a sealed one gallon steel can with a warning to not open it indoors. He had to use a can opener and inside was a glass bottle with a lot of packing. It was a pain to get to the bottle and he was gagging the entire time. Finally get the bottle open and it had a dripper like a small turkey baster to squirt some on a tree.
That would bring in all sorts of wildlife and he hid in a blind to count and had a game camera set up for days. He said no one would come close to him for days as he know he reeked. He said a skunk was nothing bad at all in comparison. |
The weekend is here, and it is purdy!
Nice short sleeve temps. I think one reason Yankees are known to be rude and grumpy is the clothes it takes to survive in cold weather. Putting on a heavy coat, stocking cap, gloves and boots sucks. And of course now a mask is added for extra fun. I am so ready for shorts weather again. |
Come visit LA, then. Shorts and t-shirt weather here. And my daughter has her first soccer game of the club season today.
|
Yea, no doubt Southern California has great weather. And way too many people because of it. And insane house prices, mega earthquakes, firestorms, mudslides, and worst of all, insane politicians.
I will stick with a few snow storms, a fantastic paid for house, paid for everything, and money left over for toys and playing with my toys. I have visited out there three times. It is a great place to visit, but I don't want to live there. |
Grumble grumble.
I noticed in the 75 degree heat wave the other day that the Air Conditioning on the Elky was not working much at all. It worked fine a several weeks back on a warm day. So yesterday I figured after 9 years of no issues at all it was time to add some refrigerant. The gauges showed it was low, for sure so I recovered what was left, and replaced the expansion valve which always traps some crap and I have two of them in stock. I then pressure tested it with nitrogen, and I could see the pressure dropping. The compressor manifold was leaking. It is a rather a strange setup, but it works. So off to the parts store for a new receiver dryer and compressor seals. I guess the car is just too old for parts availability for some items. No accumulators, no seals. So today I will try the AC supply store that always had the good stuff in the past. I hope they still have it in stock. I don't want to have to order it on the internet, but that is the final source. |

Morning all. I'm grumpy 24/7/365 or so they say.

Golly what fun.
Got the AC system vacuumed on the Elky, and recharged. I went for a test drive and it blows cold, but it was not much of a challenge at 72 degrees ambient. Until it gets hot, I can't tell how well it is charged. The OAT is so pleasant at 72 degrees the pressures never get high, and it took forever to charge. |
