I have adapted to sitting in front of a computer with a/c blowing up from the floor.
|
My home office is of course just a bedroom of the house, with no bed, just my office stuff in it.
Every other room in the house has a return, not this room. It it the hottest room in the summer and the coldest in the winter. I have a floor fan in the hall outside my office blowing into the room and that helps a ton. The ceiling fan is on, and it is not too bad in here temp wise. If and when our compressor dies and we have to change to the new style of AC unit, I certainly will have the AC folks put a return in this room, and even add a second vent. Our master bedroom is way bigger than this room. It has two vents, and a return, and it is far and away the coolest room all summer. No one is in there all day, but it is extra cool. Of course at night that is a bonus. |
Afternoon all. It has been a rotten day of mark ups that make sense to only the guy who made them.

We had a doozy of a thunderstorm blow though yesterday. It just formed right over downtown OKC, and moved slowly north. At the peak it rained 2.25 inches in 12 minutes. Rain was blowing sideways and 60 MPH gusts it looked like the videos of hurricanes. The street in front of our house was a river, and it was curb to curb. Our house is about 12 feet above that so no worries of flooding.
No damage at all, just some leaves and small twigs blown down. It dropped the temperature for mid to high 90s to 72 in just minutes. |
Morning all. Well in two weeks I should have a CRV to replace the RDX that will be 15 in November. Cross those fingers.
|
So moving up the alphabet a long way from R to C.
Is the CRV a new car or just new to you? |
New. A 2021 hybrid version. Finally getting around to spending some of the inheritance.

Good for you. |
Good afternoon all. We got to drive through the storm in New Mexico late last week. That was NOT fun. We had 3.5 inches at the house while we were gone and the yard is looking tropical. At least the weather at home is beautiful 75 instead of excruciating 118 like in Holtville.
Had we not gotten into Wichita at 1:00am I would have had onewhipped meet us for dinner. |
On road trips I always try hard to stop long before sundown. I don't like driving at night out in the countryside. Too many deer or other large animals out and about.
|
We had to cover over 1900 miles in 2.5 days with a U-Haul trailer on back killing our gas mileage.
We averaged 30 on the way out and 19 on the way back. |
Morning all. Its raining here for a change.

We got up early to take the dogs to the vet for teeth cleaning. They of course have to knock them out, so so breakfast for the dogs. They thought I was really really stupid. I did not get breakfast either, because we loaded the dogs up, and dropped them at the vet's, and then we went to Sam's for a fruit run. I had to survive until 9:00 AM with no coffee or breakfast as well. It was a tough survival experience, but since I am so manly, I managed. ;)

Golly, I sure know how to have fun!
I went to the dentist appointment as scheduled to get the gold crown on a molar placed. They tried that a few weeks back and the crown was too short, so they sent it back and had a new one made. The popped off the temporary easily. They place a piece of gauze across my throat and with forceps tried to do a test fit. It slipped out and was a bulls eye for the center of my throat, and I gagged, and swallowed and it was gone babby gone. I could see a panic look in the dentists eyes and she said she would have to go talk the boss. I felt fine, and had zero issues breathing so I knew it went into my stomach, not my lungs. They insisted I go to the emergency room and get a chest or stomach x-ray. OK, crap. So I go to the ER that is just three blocks away and pull in to the ER entrance. They want me keys to valet part my car. Nope, not gonna do that. So they point me to the parking garage. I have to go up 4 levels to the top to find a spot, and it is in the far corner. I hoof it back across the parking garage, through the pedestrian walkway, and talk to a guard. He makes me change my mask to one of theirs. Then I make it through a maze of corners and hallways to find the dentist, and she walks me to the check in. Go through that, and sit and wait. 30 minutes or so later the doc shows up, asks the obvious questions, and orders an x-ray. The x-ray tech x-rays my chest and my stomach. The tooth has passed through my stomach and is in my intestines already. They say it may take two weeks for it to pass, and I know better. I bet 48 hours at the very most. So I get to pan for gold for a while. I think I will put some rubber gloves in the bathroom. |
Morning all. I bet they won't do that again.
|
The dentists said it was her first time to have it happen. Same here, so we both lost our cherry yesterday.
Evidently it was not that rare of an event. So far this morning no sight of gold. The funny thing is the hospital gave me a 6 page printout of what to expect when a foreign body is swallowed. Sometime is is digested. I am certain that gold is not going to digest, but it will pass. A NEW replacement is on order. |
a new spin on the golden goose story............the golden Glen,
|
You aren't going to use the one you already have in you?
|
If happen to find it, I get to keep it as a souvenir. I will not even go into the process of um, looking for a hunk of gold in a very um, crappy environment. I will make cursory examinations but it just is not worth panning for gold. I will never be that poor to make that worthwhile.

I started looking at the value of my 911.
https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1985-Porsche-911-Carrera Dang, it is up to 65K. So I called the local repair shop and reseller of Porsches and he was available to sign off on the value. I did have just 45K on it. Not bad for a car I paid 20 grand for just 26 years ago. |
