Morning all. Thanks for the update on Richard. Lets hope the loss of friends and family starts to slow.

Amen to that David!

It does suck even more when the deaths are people younger than I am. It is kind of a strong reminder of mortality.
I went to my annual "physical" which is mostly just an annuity for the doctors office. It is required by insurance and to have them continue my prescriptions. Since I am an official geezer they have to ask several silly questions. Do I use an walking aids like a cane, have trouble driving, feeling depressed, and other dumb questions. When the actual doc actually came in his first question was how do you feel? I answered my standard reply to all "how ya doing" greetings, with FANTASTIC. I don't hurt or have any pain, I can get around just fine, I can do what I want, when I want, and eat pretty much whatever I want. I was sick once, I hated that, so I don't do that anymore. It is against my religion. He apologized for running a little late. He said his first patient of the day ended up going to the ER for treatment. Evidently I passed all the questions because the let me go home. They did draw blood, but no pee test. |
Great just found out my former boss/owner of the company when it was bought out just got the boot from the new place after 5 years. I have worked for him or with him for the last 28 years. The rest of us are wondering if we are next.
I get the blood draw and pee check Monday morning.
David, was his job redundant or they just needed to save money and booted him? Suck he got let go after that long. Bought a Jeep to play with with the boy. http://www.axialracing.com/assets/pr...jpg?1584039003 |
Brent, that thing will suck at the local autocross! :)
Fun for rock crawling and off road and learning to drive. Have fun with it. |
He was the owner of the place I worked for. The new place bought him out and installed an employment contract. Thats up now and poof we don't need you anymore.

Glen thats a toy R/C car. Either that or the doors are welded shut.
Glen, did you ever hear what happened to Richard? I know his health hasn’t been great. Was it a stroke?
Stroke combined with a fall and broken arm and catching covid at the skilled nursing facility.

He was a life long smoker, and insulin dependent diabetic with high blood pressure. Yet he continued to smoke, drink real Coke, eat cookies and candy bars. He had already had some lesser strokes, yet refused to stop smoking and consuming sugar. He was a very smart man making some really stupid decisions and life choices. I still miss him and his funny sense of humor. I have to write an obituary for our club magazine and I will leave out his stupid life decisions. He was a past president, vice president, autocross chairman, the first web maser, and helped a lot with the club newsletter. |

Glen are you going to post to the board root so the rest of Pelican Knows about Richard?
Yea, once I write the obit for the local magazine and membership, I will just copy and paste it to the board in a new post. I still have to get in the right frame of mind to write it. I am really kinda pissed at him for dying on me.
I understand. I have a few other friends that are going thru the same thing. So far no one I have personally met has died. Richard is the closest one yet.
Glen if you need any help proofing that or anything just let me know. I sure didn’t know him as well as you did, but I’m happy to help out where I can.
Thanks Sid, your input would be great.
How old was Richard? The obit didn't give a birth year.
58 or 59 years old. I don't remember exactly how old he was. I know he was a few years younger than me. He might have recently turned 60. No older than that.
Ya I was thinking around 60. I know he was just a couple years older than my folks.
And you know how to reach me Glen. Email is still the same. |
