well think of all the things you can get done by not watching tv.

Whew, what a fun waste of time I had this afternoon. I set up a flight for a project on the laptop, and sent out contractor pilot out to fly our plane to get it photographed.
He called after a while and said the camera is not working. One of our standard operating procedures is the get everything set up an in place for the camera system and run a short simulation. The camera would not take photos. So I went out there, we took the camera pod off, and back to my house. Open it up, and test some connections. The 12 volt supply to the cameras (there are two) in the pod tested fine. I plugged it back in, and I had the magic touch and all is fine. I set up a simulation, and let it fire away as I shook it and played like a airplane in flight. I did not make airplane sounds, but I moved it around. All is working. So tomorrow in the COLD I get to mount the camera and send the pilot on the way. I am real glad he did not fly all the way there and discover the camera system did not want to play nice. If my business partner was here, he would have fixed it and flow the project. He is off in another state flying so he gets a pass. |
Went to the airport again this morning. It was kinda (screw that, it was cold) nippy. Got the camera mounted, all hooked up and it took some very underexposed and fuzzy pictures of the hangar floor. Whooo Hooo. That means once it is outside, and in the air and 3,000 AGL it will take some perfect photos of the site.
It is funny, I have been in the hangar when it was attic hot, 120+ and when it was in the teens. I prefer the teens, I can always dress for the cold, brutal heat is just well, brutal. |
Morning all. Its Monday. Glen break out the vacuum and pull some of this crappy weather East. Not all the way to you just East. Its spitting snow again today.

I started a thread about the Russian invasion of air from Siberia.
We are forecast to get a dusting or very light snow on Thursday along with the Siberian air than four days of really cold. We finally are back up to the modern world of having live HD TV in our house! They indeed had a problem with a node, and had to narrow it down to which node, and then get it fixed. They never said what the problem was, just a node problem. Part of the "sign off" speech the phone tech all read is that if the issue is with my home wiring, they may charge me $75 for the tech visit. The problem was never my equipment or home wiring, it was the node. Now I will call them and whine about 14 days of no TV. I want 14 days of my bill refunded back to the account. I ain't paying for time I had no TV when it was their issue all along. |
I saw it. Pretty funny. All except the cold part.
|
No white stuff just the usual rain for now. Hope everyone is warm.

We are warm and have normal winter time weather. Until Wednesday evening. Thursday morning it is supposed to be lose to zero degrees, and maybe a little under. Too dang cold.
Oh, and 50 MPH winds and light blowing snow as an added bonus. Wind chill in the insane cold temps, where frostbite can happen in 30 minutes. The city has a new ordnance, pets are not allowed to be outside. Even an unheated dog house is considered outside. No problem here, just trying to get our dogs from under the blanket in the living room and outside to pee is the hard part. They don't seem to dawdle and sniff around for the perfect spot like when it is warm. There is a "perfect" spot just a few steps outside the doggie door they seem to prefer. |
Our Boston will linger forever outside on warms days but today its all business and let me back in!
|
Yea, our short hair male dachshund, Reuben is cold in the house at 72 degrees and wants under the blanket. Now if there was a mouse or some other wild game, he would chase it for sure and ignore the cold. Otherwise, it is only pee when he is about to pop, and back inside ASAP. Our female is a long haired dachshund and is not bothered by cold, and she sleeps on the dog bed, upside down feet in the air because she is hot.

Wee, spending money like crazy.
End of year stuff to get on this year's expenses for the company. Renew corporate license at OK Secretary of State is a whopping $25 per year to have the honor of being in business and no one else can use our company name. Renew some of the software packages annual licenses, breathtaking prices, done. Pay the hangar rental for the year, and only have to pay for 11 months as one month is "free" since we paid for the entire year. Ouch. All expenses we can stuff on 2022 and reduce overall profits, and thus taxes for this year. It is nice problem to have, trying to buy the stuff we have to have to operate, but having the ability to pay it early. Next year is a new year, and with the economy as it is, who knows what our customers will have for us. It all goes on the bosses credit card, so no big deal. ;) |
sneak in a beer run for the year end party.
|
Oh, we will have to have a "Company end of year, & Christmas party" with my business partner, my wife, and his girlfriend, and one of our contractor pilots. We will of course discuss the airplane and business to make it an official business meal. Company policy is to have that at a high end restaurant and drinks and nice meals are mandatory.
|
good plan. We missed the wife's as she was not feeling well and didn't want to make anyone else sick. I'll be skipping mine as it is at a golf place North of here and traffic home will not make it worth while on a Thursday night.

Golly what fun I had this afternoon.
My wife texted me when she was at lunch and said her tire pressure monitor showed the right rear was 15 pounds low. She got home and I used a gauge, and it was at 22 PSI and supposed to be 39 PSI. Crap, a slow leak. Leaving the car with the average tire shop, even good ones is not optimal. OK, I have a lift, and I can get the tire off and take it in to a local chain, Hibdons. They will dismount the tire, patch the hole, and mount it again no charge. So I get the Macan in the air, and wait, what, there are tire locks, one lug per wheel is a special lock splined lug and needs a special adapter. OK, whip out the manual, and it is supposed to have a key next to the spare tire. No adapter key. Crap. So I drive to the dealer and they say they have to have the car there to match up the key with their master set. Double crap. So back home, put back on the two lugs I had take off, and put the car on the ground, and off to the dealer. They whip out the master set, and low and behold, not a full set, one lock is missing. Guess what the one I needed! Yep, and that lock is on backorder! They went to the mechanics, and found me a lock adapter that fits our lugs. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1671577412.jpg So I had to pay 44 bucks for a new one, and they gave me one that had been used. So damn what, it is not a 100 point show car. So back home, put the Macan on the lift again, take the wheel off, and take it to the tire shop. I got all done and back in the house about 4:40. Damn can I party hardy. I can only guess that when they rotated the tires at the dealership some new mechanic kept our lock. I had better things to do that throw a fit, but I did express my displeasure with the situation. The really great wonderful news is the car in in my garage, and we are not in rural Arkansas on the side of the road, in the rain, trying to change a flat and stuck without an adapter to get the wheel off. |
Morning all. Sounds like fun. I'd check next time they rotate the tires to make sure its there. I have one on both our cars and I when I know they are going to mess with the tires I put it in the center console so I know its there when I pick it up.
|
Yea, it will get checked. They are supposed to have the master set in the shop. They all looked surprised that I would instate they used our adapter.
|
well when yours is missing and you have to rotate my tires one of two things happened.
1. You used my adapter and then didn't put it back. 2. You didn't rotate the tires but took my adapter to fill the slot of your missing one. |
Pretty much my thoughts. It might have been just the FNG that left the adapter on his workbench by mistake. Either way I suspect the adapter was in there when we pickled up the car. I never looked, and did no realize it had the need for an adapter. I may just take it out and keep it at home next time it needs a service I can't do. I am not touching the PDK transmission service.

demand an extra. One in the car and one at home.
