We had not had any rain in a while, and things were getting a little dry. Last night a thunderstorm popped up. We received 2.33 inches of rain in 45 minutes. Some very small hail, and LOTS of winds. Some to 75 MPH. The windows all got washed with rain.

We have a rain barrel the city provided for 20 bucks and it had the kit to hook it up to a sown spout of the gutter. It was nearly empty, I bet it is full again. My wife uses that to water most all of the plants in the back yard. I told her I would take car of watering the plants that need it today! ;)

We did have one small branch of one of the many Crepe Myrtles snap off. It was no major issue.

I have to work today on a customer's oblique angle aerials they ordered. Our camera is a Canon EOS 5DsR and every image is a 287 MB tif file. We shoot in RAW image mode so I have to run the images through Photoshop to make images the client can use. Most have no way to view a monster tif file. I was on my 4th or 5th computer before I ever had a hard drive big enouh to even store the file.

I run a batch in Photoshop to make then 4 MB jpg files to look at. I also provide the full resolution Tif files so they can have them for future projects.

Morning all. I'm sure we can't grow those here. I had better not show one to the wife or she will make me try.

GH85Carrera 06-26-2024 07:26 AM

They come in dwarf to full blow tree sizes. The one that blew over was one branch of a bush sized one. They bloom all summer long and come in multiple colors. They are very common around here. Even some growing in the wild.

The large bush or tree behind the Macan is a pink one.

I like but I have a black thumb. Send the wife out west with plants!

GH85Carrera 06-27-2024 06:32 AM

One of my wife's friends from grade school through high school is visiting and stayed overnight. They lost touch after high school and did not know how to find each other for over 50 years. Now after three marriages, kids and life in general, by chance she saw my wife's mom at the store and got a phone number. They have been catching up for the 50 missed years.

As an Air Force brat, that moved regularly, I have not a single childhood friend. Either my fiends moved away or I did. I did learn to talk to anybody anywhere, and make conversation. That always amazes my wife as she grew up very shy. I went to my wife's 50th high school reunion and enjoyed talking to strangers as my wife went to talk to her high school friends.

Porsche-poor 06-27-2024 06:57 AM

Morning all. I have 5 friends from high school that we chat every now and then but nothing more than that and nothing older than that.

Oh goodie, it is mow the yard day! For a change the yard is not covered in dew, so as soon as I finish my second cup of coffee I will hit it. It is supposed to be 100 this afternoon. I don't wanna be out there in that!

Porsche-poor 06-28-2024 06:36 AM

Morning all. Nope you do not want to be out melting in that heat.

GH85Carrera 06-28-2024 07:04 AM

Phew. just tow hours to finish. It was 85 degrees witha 95 deggree heat index as I came in. Now to cool off for a while before taking a shower. I was still huffing and puffing and took my blood pressure. 115/50 and a pulse of 96. Not bad at all.

flipper35 06-28-2024 08:12 AM

53* here this morning. Lots of rain again as well. Yesterday was ride the bike to work day. One of the few so far this year.

Porsche-poor 06-28-2024 08:43 AM

if I rode my bike to work it would be down the stairs and probably only once a month.

flipper35 06-28-2024 10:41 AM

Ugh. Dad is getting to where he doesn't comprehend things very well now. Mom is already where she can't be unattended. I think we need to start looking at either a live in caregiver or selling the house and moving them to assisted living.

AT&T is in the area, and our neighborhood, putting in fiber optic cable. The good news for me is that they are doing the major digging and tunneling under driveways on the other side of the street. The did hand dig a hole right at the boundry of my property and the neighbors for a box, much like a water meter. It was a 5 foot deep hole, just a foot across. That dude can dig! They dug a much larger trench-hole across the street, to run the oversize (5 foot long) suppository looking gizmo to poke a hole for some conduit, and it has a wide piece of cloth inside the conduit to use to pull the fiber under the street out the other side. The heat index is 110 or so and lots of men working in the sun out there.

It is cool trenching and digging tech. I am just really happy my yard is not getting trenched up like the across the street neighbors.

I have no plans to switch to AT&T internet or TV. I have Gigabit download and 45 MBPS upload speed now. Yea the fiber can be a ton faster, but with just two of us, the speed we have is plenty.

They would have a heck of time getting to the connections in the back of the house as my yard is full of sprinkler pipe. Not my problem.

The cruel boss's wife rousted me out of bed at dawn to go help her with the compost. The humility was awful, and we got that done. Then cleaned the filters on the Koi pond.

There was a track photographer at Barber. He has only sent one photo as a teaser, and I told him I want all he shot of my car.

I hope he has some of my car with the many art pieces there. It is one beautiful track.

Porsche-poor 07-01-2024 07:40 AM

Looking good. Morning all. Long weekend ahead for some.

Outback Porsche 07-02-2024 02:04 AM

It’s a public holiday here (Friday) this weekend too.

GH85Carrera 07-02-2024 06:02 AM

I need to, or make that want to get the 911 up on my scissor lift and take thee wheels off and clean the little hiding places in the fender wells of all the clag or rubber debris from the track. That track gets a lot of use, and rubber pieces are cleaned off first thing in the morning, but it builds up fast. If I don't get it cleared out, other debris will be trapped and it is a likely place for rust.

This long weekend looks like a great time to do it.

Porsche-poor 07-02-2024 07:07 AM

Morning all. Cat off to vet, waiting on deck to get good and dry to paint the rails and seal the deck.

Porsche-poor 07-03-2024 07:14 AM

Morning all. Great week so far. The vet extracted a tooth from the cat, I got jury duty for next month. The fireworks ban is in full effect and stopping no one so the dog is going nuts. Would you believe these idiot buy them and launch then during the day? Yeah big boom no lights to see.
