morning all. I went with the CRV because of its cost and now I'm glad I did.
|
On Wednesday one of my wife's friends came down from Enid, and we went to eat lunch, and then to see the movie Twisters. Great special effects, but bad science in several things. It is just a movie. In the original Twister it started at night with chickens in the yard walking around. Anyone that has even been around live chickens know they get in the coop at dusk. The old saying "going to bed with the chickens" knows chickens are not out walking around at night.
it was cool too see the movie was really shot in Oklahoma. The first Twister movie brought about a ton of weather tourists. People come from all over the world to load up in vans and SUVs to have some sketchy operator chase storms to see a tornado. It really clogs up the roads for the professionals. In the new movie they just drive off the road into some farmer's wheat field right through a fence. They would have farmers really pissed off at that damage. My mom grew up in Oklahoma, and came back when my dad retired. She never once saw a tornado. |
Morning all. I don't think that is something I need to see. With my luck it would be headed right at me.

Our July average high was 1/2 a degree below normal! It is dang hot today.
I ate lunch with a buddy today. We went too a BBQ place that he is buddies with the manager. They have a great lunch special that is more than I can eat as it is. The manager brought out some sausage samples, fried jalapeno "poppers" and other extra goodies. My days of eating jalapenos is over. I don't like pain. My buddy took them home with him to throw out and not make the manager thing we did not like them. In my 20s I loved hot foods. About age 40 that started to change, and by 50 is was over. I eat much blander food now. |
Phew, another mowing in the bag.
As I was string trimming I was stung by a bumblebee on the cheek. First bee sting in decades. I don't recommend it at all. Bad review for sure. |
Morning all. Back from Medford Oregon. Its 6 hours south of here. Went down Friday for aunts funeral on Saturday and drove home early on Sunday.
|
Not much going on here today. My bumblebee sting was minor. A honey bee sting is worse and the stinger pulls from the body and keeps pumping venom. The bumblebee flew around the edge of my glasses and got me. I hd too take off my glasses too get him out of that area.
Back as a 6 year old kid, I was stung by a bee on my little finger. My entire arm was swollen up like a balloon. Hopefully I am past that allergy. |
Morning all. Well thats what you get for fooling around in his lawn area.
|
Morning. Happy Wednesday! Off to recycle some cardboard later this am.
|
We have two trash bins for trash, and rarely use the second one.
We also have a recycling bin that is green. It is for any cardboard and plastic and glass. It is only picked up once a month, the trash is picked up every week. All of our on-line purchases that arrive in in a box go in that bin. All part of my water-trash-sewer bill and I can take hazardous household products like brake fluid, motor oil, paint, insecticides and pesticides, florescent bulbs and mercury vapor bulbs to them for free. I have to drive several miles to do that so it is a once per whenever trip. It even includes a once every other month day to put out large objects that can't go in the bins. Fence panels, tree limbs, appliances, water heaters, lawn equipment, and gas grills. Any aluminum cans go in our trash compactor in the garage, and get smashed into a cube. It is not worth the gas money to take that cube to the metal buyers. I give that to a nearby fire department for them to take to the recycling facilities. |
Normally I wouldn't have to make a run but the wife bought some Ikea stuff and I can either stack the extra stuff up in the garage or load it up and make it go bye bye.

One more day of HOT weather and the Canadians are actually going to share some of their cool air. Lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s for the the weekend! I can handle it.
Our mornings have been very pleasant temps. Yesterday, I had to do my thing on cleaning the Koi pond filters. It is yet oone more reason I feel sure my wife will not get rid of me. Just getting the filters and sometimes the pump itself out for cleaning is something she has never done. |
Morning. Tomorrow we are headed to the beach where it will be the mid 60's for a high.
|
Kinda cool for swimming in that cold Pacific ocean.
At the San Diego parade we went to Coronado beach on the Navy base. Beautiful place and I waded into the surf up to my ankles and quickly backup up out of that ice cold water. I can't imagine how cold it is up in the northwest parts. |
Ha no swimming!

As a kid we loved going to Bellows AFS and renting a cabin for a week 100 feet from the beach. We would spend all day swimming and having fun. After a week, everything has sand in it. A sandwich was truly a sand-wich. We were always ready to leave.
It was a pristine beach as it was military only. Magnum PI filed there often when he had to go to talk to some super powerful billionaire and walk along his private beach. It was the beach all tourists hope to find, and end up on Waikiki beach full of people, cigarette butts, sunscreen bottle and trash. |
Wow, it is 71 degrees and rain is approaching. The highs for tomorrow are forecast for mid 70s and rain.
|
Off to Motors in the Morning at the Porsche dealership. Always lots of cool Porsches and today when I got up it was 64 degrees! :D
It stays in the mid 70s today. I love this August weather! |
Yesterday was different. We had 3.95 inches of rain here. At the airport where the official weather is kept, the had 6.58 inches of rain.
Oklahoma City has a suburb named Moore, and it's suburb further south is Norman, and south of there is Noble. They had 12 inches of rain and some flooding. |
