Afternoon all. Looks like a lot of work. I was never one for a huge lawn. Mrs. C would hate my house. Dead lawn is perfect!

Oh boy. I turned on the AC for the first time yesterday as it was forecast to be mid 80s. In the afternoon, I was hot, and check the temp and the AC was not working. Quick trouble shooting, and I found the compressor not running. Likely just the start up capacitor. Today is supposed to be our first 90 degree day, so that has to get fixed ASAP.

I am spending money like it is nothing. $450 to add R-22 to the AC system. Then my wife decided we needed new cell phones. Yea, my old one was a 11 Pro, and my wife's just an 11. Now we have 16 pro for me, and 16 for her.
It's only money! :eek::eek: |
Morning all. Catching up with chores. Who wants to help put a car topper on with me? I might try it by myself later. Six months ago I could all on my own now not so sure. Has to be on top of the CRV by Saturday morning. The wife heads South to LA to move the kid back home for a bit.

Had to schedule an emergency trip for tomorrow to Vegas. My mom is declining so I need to see her sooner rather than later.

We only have 1.33 acres. There are 7 fruit trees, 2 mulberry trees and a 25x25 garden and 3 grape vines. My only contribution to the garden is a raspberry bush and black caps. Takes 1.5 hours to mow with a 50 inch deck and everything to get around and is a pain in the butt, but we end up with a ton of fruits and veggies. My favorite is the Rainer cherry followed by the Asian plum. We juice the grapes from the large vine and use the soda stream to make fresh sparkling grape juice.

Weeeee!
Another fun day. The family is emptying out the MIL's house and getting ready for an estate sale of the stuff. So of course, my wife declared we "needed" an antique dresser that her mom had. And a antique sewing thread spool cabinet, and an antique wash stand. And a antique floor lamp. We both drove our vehicles the 200 mile round trip, up there to load em up. The back of the El Camino was packed full as well as the passenger seat. I got it all strapped down and no damage to the antique furniture, or the (antique driver) on the trip home. The wash stand is supposed to be "sold" already to one of her friends. The spool cabinet is going with a high end sewing machine, and a quilting surger to a place in Kingfisher, OK that is a quilt shop, for them to sell to some client. The bedroom now has another antique dresser, and of course it is empty. Our house looks like an antique store in places. Happy wife, happy life, as long as she keeps the antique wood furniture out of MY garage. I do allow her to park her car in my garage, and that is enough. |
Golly having more fun. The ceiling fan in my office gets little use in winter, but once the house AC is turned on, I need the fan. I turned it on the other day and it was OK on low, but medium and high made horrible noise. Crap.
I investigated and the screws that hold the metal blade adapters were loose, to the point of one screw falling out while the fan was on low. I had to remove the fan from the ceiling, and pretty much take it apart. I am pretty sure the factory puts in the blade attachment brackets and then finishes everything else. It was hours of frustration and a lot of runs to the garage to get tools. Over four hours later, it is all back together, and working fine. I would love to find the engineer that designed it, and kick him hard between his legs, twice! Pitiful engineering. |
We upgraded our phones to the 16s. I got to looking at the new contract, and they just slipped in a $17.85 per month for 36 months, "protection plan" on the new phones. Just $642.60 total. Yea, right. I still have my original iPhone 1 in perfect condition. In all the years of cell phone ownership, I have never damaged or lost a phone. So I went back and had them remove that "protection". And I left them the old phones that they credited me $350 each for those.

Paul, how is the new Porsche doing?
They are great fun cars. David, how are things going? |
Morning all. Sorry I have no been around just feeling a bit to tired. Round 8 went well. Looks like its going to be every 2 weeks till I die or I quit then I will die. Running out of chores I can do without being able to drive.
In better news the youngest is home from LA and has graduated. Can't be any more proud if I tried. Both kids are the first in my direct family to get a college degree. |
So you got a raise! No more college payments.
Congratulations to both of the kids. Keep fighting Paul. I did a complete brake fluid change on the 911 today. I do it every May. I was almost out of month to get it done. ;) Not really fixing anything, just routine maintenance. I have a HPDE coming up in July. Brake pads are fine. Tires are fine. |
Morning all. Time to schedule service on all the cars. This should be fun since I can't drive to any of the appointments................

I went to the dumbest and weirdest car show ever on Saturday, down in Norman, very near the OU stadium. I was invited down to the show that was scheduled to start at 11:00 AM. My phone GPS kept trying to get me there, but I kept finding road closed signs, from every direction. I finally walked up to a police officer that was at one road closed sign and asked how to get to the address I was given. He said I can park over in some random business parking lot, and walk. No way to get there in a car. So my car was no where near the show.
They were having a bike race on the city streets and the car show was in the middle of it all. So I parked, and walked for 6 minutes to get there. A few cars had arrived before the race started, by the were trapped until 4:00 PM. Every restaurant and business was closed, and no one could drive to the area. I chatted with some friends, than said I was done. I walked back to me car, and went to the interstate access roads looking for a restaurant. I was successful in hunting and gathering lunch. |
The forecast for Oklahoma to be one of, if not the wettest places in the USA this week can't be far off. We had an full inch yesterday. Today we are up to 1.07 and more is falling. 3.71 so far this week. No one is really complaining. The drought, and dry areas of Oklahoma are officially over. Every lake is full, the ground is saturated, and water tables are restored.
Everything is GREEN and looking good. Visitors to the state right now with the NBA finals and the Softball playoffs will have a lot of out of people understand why the NBA team is called the Thunder. People from all over the world have attended. Japan, Germany, and lots of countries in Germany are here to see the NBA playoffs. |
Morning all. Round 9 in the books. I guess we keep this up till its not working or I say I quit. Then on top of all that the A/C unit crapped out and probably needs replacing along with the furnace unit. Both are old enough parts are hard to get and will probably have an impact on the sale of the house later. At least he came out on a Sunday cause he knows I'm ill and cant not deal with the heat. Won't bill me till I decide on what to do with the equipment, limp along or replace it.
|
Our house was built 30 years ago. We have replaced the outside compressor twice, as it gets the hardest life. We had to replace the motherboard for the furnace a few years ago. We are close to biting the bullet, and doing an all new HIVAC unit. Maybe this fall.
I got up and did not take a customary shower. I just but on my yard work clothes, as it is mow the yard day. |
Friday 3am Sunny, our pregnant one, decided to snuggle up to me in bed and give birth. We wondered why she wasn't making her nest, evidently I was it.
Sadly, Sunday after noon one of the girls stopped breathing. We have one girl and two boys now. Her name was Rainey. Mom Sunny and dad Shadow. This is her snuggling with mama. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1749483897.jpg |
This is where Sunny stacks them when she has to go potty.
