Remember, shockproof probably means you can shake it a little.
Chances are that the firsttime you drop it, you break it, no matter what the adverts say...
Shockproof will not be Sidney proof...

It's Friday at Dave's place... :)

I'm pretty good about not dropping them too far, I was just always worried about my current carry camera, I keep it in a pouch on the belt of my pack and it took some pretty hard hits....

No reason to buy the orange one. Do you really need GPS, Alt and Baro??? The MP was reduced from 14 to 12.

As far as the blue, you are paying more for the waterproofing, impact and probably glass.

porsche4life 02-03-2011 11:06 PM

Night guys....

porsche4life 02-03-2011 11:08 PM

All three of those are the water and shock cameras dave... ;)

My Canon has gone for a couple of serious rides around the 911 on bare floor pans. It's scratched, but works like a charm. Focus on MP and glass.

And then the first time it gets caught in a rainstorm, or dropped in a creek it is toast...

No ****, Sherlock.... But are you planning to use it at 33'-40'? Since you have a dive cert, maybe this is a criteria for you as well.

porsche4life 02-03-2011 11:14 PM

Its not out of the question.....

Especially considering most of the climbing crowd is also dive certified....

I left it over night at the river last summer, sprinkled over night. Not the same as a full submerge, but it survived.

If the Orange is more expensive, I'd opt for the Blue. There's only a 7' depth diff and I'd prefer the MP's... Cropping would compensate for the depth.

Was I too harsh? :)
