had you talked to your boss about your grievances prior to giving your notice?

hey guys.

porsche4life 04-04-2011 06:08 PM

No, b/c I know he would have blown me off, and I really have no interest in staying, not as long as he owns the place....

GH85Carrera 04-04-2011 07:21 PM

The strange weather continues in OK.

It was 92 degrees here on Sunday afternoon. Tonight is expected to be just above freezing. At least the wind has slowed down. We had steady 20 to 30 MPH winds all day.

Enough for the weather report. ;)

Sid, it is a strange feeling to quit a job. I hope it works out the way you plan.

No kidding. Once the words come out, you know there is no going back and the "what the hell did I just do" syndrome sets in.

Geronimo '74 04-04-2011 07:44 PM

What the hell did I just do....
Btdt....

Morning!

Porsche-poor 04-04-2011 08:22 PM

Headed back home tomorrow. Back to the 44 degree weather and rain.

porsche4life 04-04-2011 09:11 PM

I felt slightly bad about dropping that bomb on him this evening. We had a hellish day, but I figure he has 3wks to find another me... Then finals start and I am out of there...

slodave 04-04-2011 09:14 PM

Human nature to feel bad. Not easy to fire someone, not easy to quit.

I hope that you at least told him the reasons why you quit.
That way, if he really wants you to stay, he'll know what issues to address.

Sometimes changing jobs is not a bad idea, you need to experience multiple jobs and stuff, it's part of your prep for real life ;)

slodave 04-04-2011 09:27 PM

At 20, yeah, it's normal to have many jobs. Not speaking from experience there, but so I hear.

porsche4life 04-04-2011 09:30 PM

He can't change his personality. And the business issues I see, he won't address, he is too bullheaded/tightassed.
I told him I needed to take time and figure out what the hell I was doing with my life, and that my parents think I have been working too much and not studying enough(true). I really only want/need to work about 10hrs a week... He is too tight to hire plenty of help, so I worked 20, when he really needed me 40.

He will learn, hopefully before the business goes under

Oh, and I have already spoken to another druggist. He can work me in for a few hours a week in the fall, at $10/hr....

Sounds like you made the right choice to leave.

porsche4life 04-04-2011 09:34 PM

I had decided that it was the right choice when I approached my parents about it. They are behind me 100%. I am very fortunate that my college is covered by scholarships, and my parents are willing to pick up the tab for everything else. I only work for toys...

Good of you to realize this! (not all guys your age who are in a similar situation do)

Morning, guys!

Did the reply count decrease in this thread since yesterday??

porsche4life 04-04-2011 09:44 PM

I'll admit, I'm pretty damn spoiled, and I like it that way. I wouldn't have anywhere near the life I do today, if I wasn't an only child.

livi 04-04-2011 09:54 PM

I just had an image memory of the reply count being closer to 20 K yesterday.

I start every morning in the med cabinet. :)
