Tell me about GPS POIs

I just got a Tom Tom GPS from TigerDriect. It works, but a lot of the local restaurants in my town are not listed in it's POI files.

I've gone to the Tom Tom updater, as well as some third party POI sites, and all I can find is POI lists for big chains like Chilis, Starbucks, etc.

What I want is ALL the POIs from a region (like Colorado). I don't want to hunt and peck through lists of chains. I want the phone book, basically.

Any way to do this?

Sure, return the Tom Tom and get an iphone.

Sorry I can't help with your actual question but I have several different methods of GPS including laptops, factory car Navigation
and the iphone.

Guess which one gets used the most?

Google has a great new phone number. 800-466-4411. It is free. Call the number and it will ask you questions. It is all voice activated. Pretty cool stuff.

Go to TomTom Forums. The Pelican of TomToms. There is a section on POIs with a lot of custom ones you can add. The posters there can also help you troubleshoot any issues.

Magellan is better than Tom Tom IMO. My POI has freaking everything in there.

I'm quite familiar with Google, thanks. Google is where I found and explored some of the third party POI sites I mentioend in my original post.

I thought I'd see if anyone on the forum had any experience with this product. You know, some times it's fun to chat with folks about common interests, in spite of the smart-asses here.

Thanks to all of you who actually tried to add some value

depends on which tom tom you bought. they reduce the number of poi's on the lower models. find the poi files (poi.dat) for the go 930 and put that in and you will be much happier.

Oh . . . and make sure you update your map. You get one free update to the current map within 30 days of purchase.
