Actually, I was shocked at how low cal/not deadly fat cooked bacon is-nitrates aside. So much of the evil stuff is rendered in cooking, its not really all that evil. However, my homemade pork belly or pancetta probably will kill ya quick, but you'll be happy.

I just drink enough red wine to counteract the evil stuff.

The "heart attack grill" in Phoenix has fries cooked in lard. Very tasty.

"Bacon mania refers to passionate bacon enthusiasm in the United States and Canada, and has also been described using the phrase Bacon Nation."

Could be, however if you eat four times as much lard, you'll have doubled the cholesterol of butter....

It's how much you eat of it, is what I want to say.

Look at my location.... Can you blame me for being a bit less American then most of you guys?...
I do eat bacon but I just don't think it fits well in my otherwise fairly healthy lifestyle, thats all.
