Truck bursts into flames after chase...

It's pretty amazing how quickly this truck lit up. I always assumed today's safety standards prevented fires like this. Fortunately, only the perp died...

(FFWD to 0:00:26 for the "boom")

Opened that gas tank right up, and it probably spashed on the cat, which was most likey super super hot from all the ass-haulin'. Seems like the proper result, though.

More like that the engine broke loose, and all of the fuel lines ripped. Notice, there wasn't an explosion like in the movies (don't carry nitroglycerin in your trunk!!), just that the gas spray and vapors instantly ignited as they were dumped all over a 10 foot circle.

I have actually seen an explosion from a burning car. It wasn't as violent as the stuff in the movies, but it was the first time I'd ever seen a burning car explode (seen lots of burning cars).

I used to work on the 6th floor of the Aramco building across 610 from Meyerland Plaza. A car on the feeder on the outside of 610 started to burn. Folks got out. After about 5-10 minutes of healthy burning, boom, smallish explosion, complete with noise and fireball.

Oh, and safety standards?

Ask the Arizona police how those safety standard work to keep cars from burning up...

Answer: He/she wasn't.

The minivan probably wasn't thinking that the oncoming vehicle was doing triple digits

Never, I repeat NEVER "brake-check" a minivan.

Looks like "cat karma"

There's alot to look at in that video. It looks like a pedestrian almost gets taken out by one of the wheels.

Gotta pay attention to closure rate, as im sure youll agree. That minivan never even makes any attempt to speed up as the truck speeds toward it, even though he has no turn arrow.

Oblivious.

I was thinking the same thing. GRANTED- the van driver is not at fault due to the rate of speed the other vehicle was travelling at, but still... I think someone with their head on would have seen that coming sooner.

Excellent results for a car thief who jeopardized the safety of those other drivers...
