914 more valuable than Italian road bike
I wish I had my camera with me today. I saw a 914 with a De Rosa road bike strapped on the back bouncing along the freeway. The bike was bouncing on the rack which has towels underneath so as not to mar the what looks like original paint that needs a respray badly on the 914. Looked to be a pre-1975 914 as the bumpers were not black rubber so it was probably worth more? Still, the carbon De Rosa must have been at least $5k while the car was maybe $3k? The owner had his priorities straight, I'd say.

Maybe owner knew the reliability of his 914 and was carrying a "backup"...

Thats the running-joke about NorCal mountain bikers: $500 car with a $5000 bike attached.

![]() This can be an $18,000 bicycle. I'm lucky if my 911 hits $12,000.

My "Italian Trash" is definitely worth more than the 914 I sold recently. And I've got more miles on it.
