Had my first girl friend at age 5. (My mom's best friend's daughter Maureen). She might still be the longest standing relationship i ever had, we made it maybe 7 years together.

I see you've met my 11yo Godson. :D

He has future soldier written all over him. Shot his first rifle last week (my new CAR-15), and LOVED it. Had him shooting a .45 auto and .357 mag not two days later.

Brings a tear of pride to my eye watching him in the early formative stages of transforming into a man.

He thinks girls are way yucky though. I seriously question his sincerity based on the bikini pix his super cute female 16yo babysitter sent him for his birthday.

The old saga of sex vs violence in our culture. Here is my take and why your argument is FOS (full of straw). The scenario of the kid mowing down his friends with a plastic machine gun involves a fantasy of violence. The child acting on her "fantasy" of a sexual conquest with nude role playing crosses the line. If the violent fantasy became the torture of animals then we could equate that with the little girls acting out of her sexual fantasy.
One has crossed the line while the other is safely tucked away in the mind. Thoughts don't harm, actions do.

I honestly want to know what you think is such a big deal about this. Do you honestly mean to tell me you never had a little girl touch your johnson when you were a little boy?

Honestly?

bivenator 08-17-2009 11:19 AM

Honestly, yes a little girl did touch my johnson as a little boy. I fared well but the poor girl, not so much. She was disappointed in every man for the rest of her life after seeing mine. ;) Look, I don't think that a little experimentation is entirely wrong. The factors that blow this up for me is the girls age (8 is usually an age of cooties, not booties) and the serial nature of the episodes. Once is understandable, twice that we know of, may indicate that the girl has emotional problems that need to be addressed.
I'm not a prude or a control freak but the behavior does not fit in with a healthy 8 yr old. If she were a cutter, nail biter, bed wetter, hair puller then a visit to the shrink would be needed. Her problem is manifesting itself in inappropriate sexual behavior.
The little boy was not a completely willing participant and that is another aspect of the girls actions that could be construed as "not right".

The world needs sluts too (god does it. :)). They usually start early.

Snipes, I see where you are coming from and I guess if it was an isolated incident it could be understood but what makes this rather concerning is that the little girl has had a history of acting sexual in various situations that typically isn't natural until teen-hood.

Also - what about the bday boy? Did she pull his pants down or was he an active playa in this act? Takes two to tango. I know one thing, kids typically do not let another kids make them drop da drawers.

Dude, you got yourself the makings of Hysteria Lane on your hands! Can anyone say Desperate 2nd Graders?

Didn't every neighborhood have a girl who liked to be 'examined'?

I always thought so. Mine had several! (One benefit to growing up in the hood i guess) Guess you and me were just lucky. :D

red-beard 08-17-2009 12:29 PM

I thought playing doctor was usually pretty much over by 2nd grade, anyway.

Oh well.

Well, sure. In the 3rd Grade we had chosen our 'specialties'....

If the kid has no sexual feeling or intent she hasn't crossed any lines. She can take off her pants and bump and grind, but she still isn't having sex. She's still just role playing.

So there is no difference between your two examples.

flatbutt 08-17-2009 12:46 PM

playing doctor usually involves exploring the others' body and checking out the differences. For an 8 yo girl to get naked and immitate sex is not playing doctor. I don't necessarily think this is an idicator of physical abuse, but she is seeing stuff she shouldn't. How else does she know what to imitate. No , sorry I don't see this as harmless exploration. IMHO there is an issue there.

dhoward 08-17-2009 12:52 PM

It's what we're allowing the world to become.

Idiocracy: If you don't get the movie, you're in it.

m21sniper 08-17-2009 12:52 PM

Of course there's an issue. She's a horny little devil.

I told her taht under no circumstance will our child be left alone with him. Those are usually the abusers, the ones that can gain the trust of children.

Despite what you may want to believe about this subject, never and I mean Never rule out the mother, sister, aunt... in other words, it ain't always a boy/man who's doing the abusing.
Don't ask me how I know. I just do.
