Worlds Most Dangerous Shop Fan!

Well,
I was driving around and saw an ad for "estate sale", pulled in and emptied my wallet it was an old school tool extravaganza!
Sitting behind a bunch of other old electric motors was this monster:

Fan is 20" across and actually has a inlet duct, motor is 1/4 HP, and fan blade is solid aluminum and get this, its a Hartzell! Sucker weighs 50+ lbs!
I love it, not a guard anywhere to be seen, OSHA beware.
Anyone seen one of these?
eric

Mount it to an air-cooled VW engine and go flying.

Very cool. I remember my grandfather had a desk fan that had a crosshair type guard and sharp metal blades. You could stick your arm through the "guard". So..what DID you get?

Lesee,
I got a valve compressor, some old oil/fluid storage cans, a gear lube can with a lever hand pump, a bunch of aircraft rivet tools, and the prize, a pneumatic tire changer. I seem to destroy the tires on my Landcruiser while wheeling with 12psi, rocks and tree branches stick through the sidewall. I get the BFG MSs all day on craigslist, but having them mounted and balanced was a pain.

I have one similar, only a little bigger than that we built a steel box to enclose. we would put it over the 30-32" watertight manhole to pull the smoke and heat out of the compartment while working. problem was... had to move it with a cherry picker and if you were inside the barge and the crane operator (me) fell alseep on the crane, you couldn't move it to get out. plus it was so loud, I couldn't hear them screaming

This bad boy is loud, most of the noise is from the airflow and some motor noise. I think I will make a rolling pedestal to move it around, I will also add some guards, I fed a paper towel into the fan, bad choice, freeking confetti all over the shop, I would hate to see the dogs nose get too close, he is after all a Labrador and I don't want dogfetti all over the shop!
Lab parts most at risk:

let's not mince about with something that was designed as a fan, get something that was designed to get airborne... How about an ultra light engine + propeller...

Our American Legion hall had one similar to this, except it was a little smaller and it was hanging from the ceiling on a water-pipe.

Death from above.
