Yep, it was a glock. With almost ANY other firearm he would not have discharged that weapon. Almost ANY other firearm.

legion 08-20-2009 09:55 AM

He'd have to pull the trigger on a Glock for it to discharge, unless he modified it to remove the three safeties.

I would be surprised if he actually serves the two years. Likely he'll be out in less than 12months with good behavior.

Let's not kid ourselves, Glocks have no safeties that matter.

The gun started to fall down the leg of his sweatpants and he grabbed the shape of it through his pants, causing an AD.

Virtually no other firearm on earth would have discharged. And then there's Glocks. I view them to be "unsafe at any speed."

rammstein 08-20-2009 11:52 AM

I'm all for freedom to carry firearms, but I'm also all for punishing those who infringe on others people's right to live.

He should be thanking god that he's only facing 2 years in prison, instead of a life of guilt from maiming or killing somebody.

Someday I will get a Concealed Weapon permit. When I do, I fully expect to be prosecuted and thrown in jail if I accidentally fire my pistol in a bar. Seriously, that is just stupid. I mean, a lot of you guys have concealed weapons permits. How many of you have accidentally fired your pistol in public?

Most of our CC guys here would never even take a gun into a bar, especially if they were gonna have a drink.

With your "rights" comes responsibility, which Plaxico obviously did not understand.

HUGE plus one!

RPKESQ 08-20-2009 12:31 PM

Glocks were designed for intelligent end users. That explains so very much.

legion 08-20-2009 12:52 PM

This is what I have, should I ever get CCW:

I didn't see it mentioned that knucklehead Burris turned down a 90 day deal, imo he had to be pretty full of him self to turn that down. I also doubt he'll ever play again!

charleskieffner 08-20-2009 02:27 PM

If he was offered 90 and turned it down either he and/or his attorneys are morons.

Apparently Glocks are not weapons for idiots.

"With almost ANY other firearm he would not have discharged that weapon."

The S&W Sigma's and Ruger SR9's come to mind.
Jim

jyl 08-20-2009 03:30 PM

Also most S&W M&Ps, Kahr PM9 and variants, Ruger LCP and similar pocket pistols, almost all DA revolvers, etc.

on2wheels52 08-20-2009 05:18 PM

Have to disagree with you John re 'Kahr PM9 and variants, Ruger LCP and similar pocket pistols, almost all DA revolvers', considerably heavier trigger pulls on those models.
Jim

He's an idiot for choosing a short stroke single action pistol with no safety and then wearing it in his waistband. Any of a gillion other guns would NOT have discharged there.

Those all have long, heavy double action pulls.

Glock alone has a short single action length pull with no safety. If Plax had been carrying a Kahr nothing would have happened at all. Same for any other DAO pistol or revolver of any make or model.

This is an accident that could almost exclusively ONLY happen with a Glock.

Shuie 08-20-2009 06:47 PM

The safety is between your ears. There is a good amount of take up in a Glock trigger. It's really not a short first pull. Short reset, but not a short pull. Unless it had been lightened, he had to pull it pretty good to make it go bang. Not that there is any argument for carrying in the waistband while in a bar. It's still not cool to do something like this with a revolver or a Kahr.

m21sniper 08-20-2009 06:52 PM

It is IMO a really short pull, there is by no means a "good amount of take up."

No way he shoots himself with -any- other modern pistol. None.
